anyone got some good free anti-virus programs besides avast?

Didn't zone alarm release their AV for free now? Or a year anyway. Not sure how good it is though.
edit: not really finding anything on it. maybe it was my imagination. :O

NOD32 - not free but cheap.
and works very well.simple, fast.

I had NOD32 for over 200 days past after the trial ended. I didn't have any problems at all, fast and not really killing the CPU.
I changed back to norton however... The notices of the trial popped up over some games, thus forcing me to alt-tab :(

As far as i am aware only their firewall remains free...

AVG. Had it for ages, constant updates, a free anti spy-ware scanner and good protection.

And to pre-empt some of the naysayers, a good starting program.

I hate AVG. Gives me loads of pop ups when logging on, can't stand it.

Two update windows upon starting - one telling you what's being installed and one confirmation window.

Avast, its free and not a resource hog. Been protected my dload machine for 8 months with no probs
