My browser keeps getting hijacked to securitynetpage.net and my pc seems to have a lot of spyware now. help please!

Spybot, Adaware, Microsoft anitspyware, Stopzilla (best, it stops almost all spyware from ever installing. Although to keep up to date definitions you need to purchase).

For AntiVirus... get Avast!. Its a free program. You just have to register a license for a year, and renew it every year, for free.

Reading some comments on that site. It seems that they don't actually run the spyware to see if the Anti-Spyware detects it. They just put it in a folder inactive and see if it is picked up. If they tested the Anti-Spyware by doing real world tests such as going to sites with know spyware that would be better (or something like that).

I'm sure a number of those programs would do a better job detecting if the spyware was running.

Why do you have to register avast to use it if it's free?

Im not sure to be honest. Its probably something to do with their liability. You probably sign an agreement saying that they arnt liable for any damage a virus does that happens to get past the protection.

At anyrate, its what I use, and registration is a sinch. You probably have had a harder time signing up for forums than you would registering Avast!. So far I have been using it for a bit more than 2 years and I have been virus free from day 1.

Combined with Stopzilla I have been virus and spyware free for like a year and a half.

Yeah, Advast works the best for me, mainly because it's the only anit-virus program that I can install on my 64-bit windows machine.
