This is what I am going to buy, I want to be able to play the newer games with all the eyecandy stuff enabled (FarCry, Half-Life 2) at good framerates.

Case : Chieftec Mini Dragon
Powersuply : Ultra 400 Watt ATX Nickel With 120mm Blue LED Fan
RAM : Ultra 512mb PC2700 DDR 333MHz
Fan : Speeze - Socket A Cooling Fan up to XP 2800+
Processor : AMD Athlon™ XP 2500+ / 512KB Cache / 333MHz FSB / Socket A / Barton Core / Processor
Motherboard : Biostar - M7NCD - nVIDIA nForce2 Motherboard
Video Card : ATi Radeon 9800 Pro 128mb OR ATi Radeon x800 Pro .. Not sure which

well, if you have the money gewt the x800pro.

however, i suggest getting the amd athlon 2500+ barton mobile instead of the desktop processer, because it run coole, nad if you were to overclock it , you'd get a much better overclock.

Also, i've neaver heard of your mobo.... you chose a good chipset, but i'd reccomend going with a manufactuer with a better reputition, such as Asus, Abit, or Epox

but overall, looks like it'll be a good system!

While you won't beable to play with all the eye candy (unless you grab a X800Pro/XT) this system does deliver more than enough performance for playing those games.

Biostar is a pretty decent company. Their bios may not have all the options that an Asus/Abit/MSI/Epox board would but they are pretty solid anyway.
They started a few years back as a motherboard manufacture sorta like Epox but rather than aiming for the OCing crowd they seem to aim for the value/performance crowd similar to MSI.

My Dad has an AMD Biostar board and it has worked well for him.

Why only a 2500? A 2800 or 3000 isn't that much more.

The 2500 is what comes in the package.. and I plan on overclocking to a 2800+

Well.. before I buy the video card it's about 300$ after shipping..
I have a question about the x800 Pro, do you think it will work with 400 watts of power suply?
Because I read somewhere that the GeForce 6800 Ultra requires 600 watts..

lmao, where did you read that? Not true. the 6800u says it requires 480watts...been tested jsut fine on less.

the x800 uses less power than the 9800xt.

I read that on uhh.. Gamers Depot, thought they were pretty reliable.
So how much does the 9800XT require then?

I'm ganna have to work my ass off just to get enough money to buy the x800 Pro, so if I can get enough money after I buy the card, I will more then likely buy another stick of 512mb.

ok, your system looks fine, but your RAM is 2700 (BAD IDEA). Bump it up to ddr 400 PC-3200 and you'll be making much better RAM clock speeds.

also, going down to the 2500 barton is a nice idea, because you can overclock it to like 3000 using the stock cooling.

Can you tell me why it is bad?
I can't bump it up because PC2700 is what comes in the package..

intel pentium4 cpu 2400mhz, motherboard not sure, 1.5GB DDR RAM pc 3200, video card ATI ASUS 9800 256mb,Powersuply 350w i think.

PC2700 is FINE. lol
Athlon XP's run best when their Memory speed is 1:1 with their bus speed (FSB 333/166 is 1:1 with PC2700-333).
If you were OCing it would be better to have PC3200 (400) but not needed.

You are trying to save money. If you had money to spend then it would be no problem for you to go to PC3200 since you could pick and choose your parts.
