Wow... to say I'm very wordly cultured is saying the least. And on the side of music, I'll listen to anything except for rap, and new country, (country that is pre-70's is awesome), but aside from those, I will literally listen to anything, and probably like it.

So my favourite bands are things like Nirvana, the Strokes, The Vines, Interpol, etc.

We'll I'm also a big fan of jazz and blues, with the Seatbelts. but recently I did a report on the blues, and I was looking for a blues artist to write about and I saw that on Nirvana's unplugged in newyork cd they cover a song by Huddie "Leadbelly" Ledbetter, and I downloaded the original recorded in 1930.

I reccomend, if you're widening your horizon with music, to reseach leadbelly, and download "Where Did you sleep last night" (the song nirvana covered), cotton fields, and shine on me... really interesting classic bluesy stuff.

Anyone else have any reccomendations for something interesting?
I'm getting bored with what I have.

Recommendations for songs?

Check out music by "The Delgados"

They have kind of a fuse between rock and calm music, like in "All you need is hate" it's sung with a calm voice but its a song about hate.

"The Light Before We Land" Is also a good song.

check out music by they might be giants.

they just rule. and flagpole sitta by harvey danger. yeah. theres some classic blues for ya.

seriously though. tmbg. favorite band ever. ana ng is my favorite song.

Yes, Leadbelly is a great listen.. have one of his CDs.. also have an old Robert Johnson (great blues artist) CD.. look him up and listen to him.. not as talented with guitar as Leadbelly, but really can do his thang with the blues..

That's the last track on their unplugged album, I like it, but the song + Kurt Cobain's singing is just depressing :P Which isn't always a bad thing.

im glad there arent a lot of rap-fans here

Heh, don't have much against rap, just rap-artists :farmer:

Thanks, I'm going to write all of these suggestions down and get them sometime soon... and nothing against rap, I just personally can't stand it, I don't care if you do
