Id recomend trying to go for a 2500+ barton.....you will be happy if you do.

Overclocking to 3000+/3200+ is very easy.

by xmas that will all be cheaper, you may be able to get a 9800 or a 9700 and a faster CPU.

Is a 2500xp (barton) easy to overclock without fans to a higher speed?
if not, what kind of fans do you need..

(thinking of upg my old 400Mhz comp...)

That I have no clue how. I'm not that high tech when it comes to PC parts. I don't want smoke coming out of my PC for a 2nd time. Yes,it did happen. Since my PC was on for too long I saw some smoke coming out.
