After it had been found that Chinese Human Rights activists E- Mail account had been attacked.

Internet giant Google has said it may end its operations in China following a spate of attacks on email accounts of Chinese Human rights activists

Google, while not accusing Beijing directly, said it was no longer willing to censor its Chinese search engine.

Interesting, since the Chinese government was plannig to move to a white list internet, which is more restrictive than the internet censorship they have right now and because the Chinese government have been surprisingly efficient on internet censorship. I say all the power to google except

In US trade on Wednesday Baidu's shares were up 13%, and Google's down 0.57%.

people buy shares in Baidu right now, The Chinese internet search engine.

Even Chakie Chan says the government should "do the thinking for the people"

They're going to leave because they're losing to Baidu, this is just an excuse. Google didn't give a **** about human rights before when they were turning a profit.

Kathy should revolt and get exiled to the US. Win-Win situation.

like all good things, some evil dude(s) come by and **** shit up

Well that could be true. Google is coming of second best in China. The only country it's not dominating. But Baidu shares should jump at the news.

Gunner, but they were still making a shit load of money there, I'm sure, it's not like they had 0% of the search engine market.

They were the second biggest in China after Baidu. But they were a distant second. The internet usership in China has grown exponentially. There were 10 million Chinese using the internet a decade ago. Now it's 350 million.

I'm simply saying - for example, McDonald's doesn't just close down all it's restaurants because they're tired of being 2nd to Burger King.

Maybe they are afraid the Chinese government isn't going to play fair. Remember when China arrested the Australian mining people ? Maybe Google expects that once they start competing with Baidu ( a state run company I think) these cyber attacks could be directed at them. I think it's just practicality.

I take what Google say at face value, they believe in their motto "Don't be evil". They made a mistake going into china in the first place and they recognise this.

It's worth mentioning that the "Bai" in "Baidu" means white.

Ha.

If I ever make a company, I'll have it's motto be "Be Evil." just to spite Google.
