This is going to be awesome imo, really cheap. But will probably suck big time at gaming.

Have you read the comments? Its not going to happen, it seems like a prediction at best. If anything they will come out with some sort of small OS that will only be usefull for a few things.

They are way too small to take on Microsoft.

Look at it this way, they already own the search engine "market", Google Earth is the only worthwhile type in the field, Gmail is used and enjoyed by a large number, Google Talk is a good product but couldn't beat MSN and AIM with just VOIP as their only major niche. If / When google pushes they will be able to take over more and more of the market.

I like how nobody read the article, or the replies, AT ALL.

The OS is going to run on a giant server, and it just basically allows multiple people to have accounts on it, for web design and shit like that.

Google should make their own OS. Maybe it will become popular enough to give microsoft the boot. I love to see that.

No other OS' play games properly so Windows > Every other OS, in my humble opion.
 
I predicted this! Just the other day I was saying to my friend how google would probably bring out their own OS at some point.

Admittedly such a prediction didn't exactly require nostradamus-like powers.
 
I'd be willing to give Google OS a try, depends how stable and secure it is.

I guess Google will definately make an OS at somepoint. All they do now is take stuff that already exists, then make it better.

IT'S NOT AN ACTUAL OS THAT YOU RUN ON YOUR HOME PC!!!

It's a proprietary OS built for server side application.

YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO CHECK YOUR EMAIL AND BROWSE THE WEB WITH IT.

Hell, IT PROBABLY WON'T EVEN BE AVAILABLE PUBLICALLY.

But yes, what he said. I think Google's mindset is about making information available to users, not so much getting involved in how you use it. I do like how their corporate motto is "Do No Evil".
