Hello !
Anyone know if it is possible to change the first person view, so it actually is possible to see Gordon through the game and not only the "tools" he got ?

thirdperson

in console.

But that would only show a black figure.

Sorry, but Ido not quite understand. You say in console, which console ? I have PC version...

On your main menu go to Options > Keyboard > Advanced and check the box "Enable developers console"

Go in game, and press the key under escape and type in thirdperson

I hope I cleared it up for you, if not, just ask again.

There should be a key which appears under the Esc key

Console is a terminology used by developers. When testing a game map, developers have access to a drop down window from within the game (called Console), this allows developers to check different areas of the game, to ensure everything appears correct. Incidentally, the console can be used for cheating as from the console you can walk through walls, become invinsible and have as many weaspons as you want.

Like Xendance said, 3rd person is not fully supported for HL2, However I believe you were able to do this for HL1

Indeed, Half Life showed Gordon running and that, and so did Opposing Force, but Blue Shift showed Gordon's model instead.

No, what you're asking is not possible. There could be mods that do it, although I doubt it. HL1 had no first person body, because Quake didn't have it, because Doom didn't have one (because you couldn't look down in it), because it was based on Wolfenstein 3D. So in a way it's from Wolf3D. D:

Great ! crystal clear !!!
I will try later today !

Unfortunatly you'll probably only see a weapon model from a side view, the game isn't designed to support third person.

Thanks, I know that, but I have some really serious problems with headache and dizziness when I play FPS games, but whet I get another view ther is no worry at all...! really strange.

its hard to believe that doom 3 and source engine were built off the same quake 1 engine..

There is a way to overcome the side view, but sadly I cannot remember the code.

It was something like cam_draw 30 or something.

Lots of people report motion sickness problems with HL2. There are ways to help with motion sickness without changing the FPS view.
The main ways are (1)upping the refresh rate and (2)widening the in-game field-of-view slightly.

Right-click anywhere on your desktop and go to 'properties'. Click the 'settings' tab -> the 'advanced' button -> 'monitor' tab -> and set your monitor's refresh rate to the 75Hz, or the highest it can go. If there is a box saying 'hide rates that this monitor can't display' then make sure it is checked.

Next, open up Steam and go to your games list. Right click HL2 -> Properties -> 'Set Launch Options' -> type the following:
-refresh 75 (...or if your monitor can't manage 75, set it to the highest it can go)

Be aware that the above only works if you start HL2 through Steam. If you run it from a desktop shortcut, then you need to right click that shortcut, go to 'properties', and add a space then '-refresh 75' to the end of the target line.

Next, in-game, in the same console that Xendance mentioned, type 'sv_cheats 1' (without quotes) and hit enter. Then type 'fov 90' and hit enter. Finally, type just 'fov' and hit enter, in order to make sure that the fov is now 90. HL2 uses a default field-of-view of 75, which is lower than most of the FPS games which came before it.

Also, check this article about motion sickness in HL2. There are some good tips in the comments. Try also searching the steampowered.com forums for threads on motion sickness.
