A few weeks ago my friend directed me to this website called ***** (don't go there if you have a weak stomach.) He told me there were cool gory movies and crap on it. When, I saw some of the photos I couldn't help but gasp in horror and pity the victim. I didn't think it was "cool" at all and I'm wondering... do you guys think gory pictures are cool and why the hell would you think they are? :(

That website scarred me for life. Now all I can think about is what if I got in a car crash and got a steel pole stuck through my head? Oh god.

Youd be dead?

I dont think gory stuff is cool...

Really gorry things like that make me sick :x

Iv seen a couple of the photos on ****
:(

At school we got to see a cow's heart. My science teacher handled it without any gloves and he kept poking at it and making incisions.

The reason people watch videos like that (faces of death, rotten.com, etc) is to detach themselves from the concept of death, as strange as it may sound. Witnessing the deconstruction of the mechanics of life by brutal truama through such a detached medium allows them to objectify death as something that happens to other people, not to themselves.

(I just finished a psych course called Death and Dying)

I have a friend who was very much into that stuff, who really seemed to find it 'entertaining'. And he would share storys with me, even though I hated to even hear it third hand. It was clear that he did not fully percieve it as being 'real', and in later discussions it became clear that if he had witnessed any of this in real life, it would be traumatic to him.

I could never watch that stuff myself, because I am always consumed by empathy instead of objectifying it, which I believe is a far more healthy reaction. At one point I could never imagine facing anything like this in real life. Somewhere along the line, however, I became acceptant of fear and death, and have chosen to become an EMT Paramedic. I have had to face some real life truama, and am bound to see many gruesom things. I'm not sure why I'm ok with it, but it has to do with a need to do what I can to help these people, no matter how horrible the situation is.

I know I'm rambling, but let me just add that I saw one of the most horrible things imaginable on a video in EMT class,. a man who blew his own face off with a shotgun... and lived. He had no nose, no eyes, no jaw,. and yet these paramedics miraculously saved his life (though his quality of life would be questionable, having just lost three of his five senses). I have no idea how they secured his airway,. how they found his airway to intubate, and I have so much respect for them. The really scary thing is, during this whole ordeal the man was fully conscious. When I related this to my friend (who used to watch faces of death), he could hardly stand to hear about it.

A funny turn of events.

I like watching people hurting themselves, but seeing peoples heads after they shot it with a shotgun (not that theres much to see) is disgusting. Or guys getting crushed by elevators :x

*kringes*

I find those videos to be disturbing and quite... Odd to like. :|

UnkillableDot, is it me or does your avatar change after a while?

Those pages are so disgusting and stupid... they destroy a lot of human dignity...

...though I somehow heard that they might have a political background... :|

No I dont think they are cool, that site is on my ban list so nobody in the house can go there. Its a discusting site and some of the people on the forums could be murderes themselves the way they talk, discusting people if you ask me.

I got to dissect a cows heart, a chicken wing (-_-) and a bulls eye in highschool but it doesn't have the same effect as another human being. Maybe because it could happen to you or like me, you think of the family and freinds and how traumatizing it would be for them..

I dissected a chicken wing at KFC the other day

We have a program on over here in Britain called Anatomy for Beginners, each episode is the disection of a donor human body, i find the program facsinating although it is alittle grim in parts. It is all professional and scientific. With maybe an exception to Gunther and his hat
I do worry what goes through the heads of the guys who put up these sites and media, and seem to enjoy it...

i don't think i find it as bad as i should, i'm quite desensitized.

ok now i know offtopic has gone to hell when threads about _that site_ and the types of things found in it are allowed to grow ;(
