ok, so im doing stuff ,and it seems i got a nasty virus, the computer restrts itself when it gets to bootscreen, doesnt start in safemode, so im planning to start the computer with windows cd, and format, but unfortunately, i forgot which key i press to get boot from menu, i remmeber it was one of the F's, my computer is a HP, perhaps that is a good info, anyone know which button it is? and i want to option to boot from my cd rom

BTW im posting on my brothers computer

You sure it's a virus?
Your windows install might just be corrupt, fixed using the CD in repair console.

i cant get past anything, its just like having a mismatch version of boot screen, it reboots at the part when the computer gets to the windows.

im preaty sure its a virus, i was messing around with files on internet that probably was a virus

I'm sure it's F8 to boot get to the boot menu on most motherboards although they are different.

ill try that
doesnt work, for me, its the advanced options

and the boot option im talking about would be the thing that tells you what you want to boot your computer from, and i want cd rom, which wil lhave windows cd in it

Why dont you just go into the bios options and change the boot sequence to boot from cd first?

hm, im afraid ill screw up, i was thinking about that though

oddly enough, it was already set to cd rom

thanks, i got it formatting, but loseing everything on it T_T

yeah i've been forced to format a windows drive before and felt the pain of losing all my files so now i keep all my files on a backup partition.

ive been having to format countless times, it is amazing how many

Well then you obviously need to quit, downloading files from sites/quit going to unknown sites/quit with the pr0n. :P

All seriousness, use the HP recovery cd or drive that comes with the computer, I know you have one or the other, on older ones its usually a cd, but on newer HP's like mine its an extra drive with all that stuff to restore it on it.

yes i reinstalled windows once after ****ing it up with those 'make ur comp faster' progs, it was a pain in the ass, i was on the phone for hours to some dell guy in india getting it fixed, interestingly my comp crashed and restarted the other day like yours but i think its fixed, i ran tuneup utilities and there was a mountain of errors but it sorted them. :O

i gotta get my stupid sound card running again, my onboard sound card is screwed up, so i got a different one, but the onboard one always tries to kick in instead of the other card, gotta fix that just like every time i reformat... *signs*

dam right man, someone here recommended it, maybe it was you. :D

its really great though, 1 thing i noticed is it runs in the background, i didnt know it did that until i got a message saying it fixed some probs in my reg, i was like wtf, your not supposed to be running, my trial period is now over :stare: but i keep using it.

yeah, doesnt sound like a virus. That used to happen to me a lot too and I absolutely hated it so I would just let my computer restarting and eventually it would be smart and come out of it.
