Alright so when I just tried to run 3dmark03, it loads through the first demo and plays some of it, and all of a sudden just shoots me back to desktop, same with FarCry, I play alittle on FarCry and then it shoots me to desktop too, did this with my other motherboard and cpu, what could be causing this??

Specs 3000+(2.2ghz) 1gb ram and X800 Pro with 4.6 drivers, I know none of the components are overheating, CPU idles @ 42-43C and GPU idles @ 43C

For me 3Dmark only crashes when I have something running at a speed that is not 100% stable. Meaning I have something running TOO far on the ragged edge.
If you have NOTHING overclocked, you need to run some utilities to check for problems. Last item: if you just changed a driver recently roll back to an older version and see if that solves it. I recently has this particular problem myself!

Sorry to bring up an old thread, just didn't feel like cluttering with a new one. Still have the issue, what could it ever be?!?! I mean it did the same with my old mobo and cpu right before the mobo died...Any idears?!?!

yeah, but I've tested it with an ATX tester, its straight, all green lights.

are you sure nothing's overclocked? Sounds like your CPU isn't fully stable. what's your Vcore at (download CPU-z and run it if you don't know)

Well yeah I've touched the clock settings, same with Vcore, Vcore is @ 1.65V, but on the other mobo, I ran the computer fine for months and about a month an a half with the X800 and it just started to do it all of a sudden, started with Far Cry.

told you should have gotten that 6800 u dist. im always right.

Just say your having troubles with your videocard and return it under warranty. Maybee the new one wont do that.

I still say you have something operating out of spec/OC too far..
3dmark will uncover ANYTHING that not 100% stable.
reset EVERYTHING to OEM spec. let it set until it cools then try again.
also if you have any windows errs thats not good either.
MAKE SURE that something like norton systemworks says you have 0 problems.
also check device mgr for any SW/HW issues

why dont you jsut download prime95 and run a stress test, that will tell you if its not stable.

I actually think I found the answer...Power issues, did this right before I put in my 2 80mm antec fans...I will find out soon enough.

Well, it could still be a power issue, but now I changed everything back to normal, and it still does it, but about 5-10mins later...this is really wierd, what should I do? Call ATi??

Have you tried disabling AGP Fast Write?

Yeah its disabled, LOL, it wouldn't even let me enable it. :)

Anyways Frag52954 helped me with the issue I was having, used memtest86, and BAM! Found out 2x256mb pny sticks of ram had about 300 Errors, ripped those shits out, ran the game with 512mb...its all good now, I just need to get another 512mb stick before HL2 and I'll be set :E

Thanks for those that helped!

Memory is the #1 source of random "game disappears and im back to desktop" problems

It probalby doesn't have an on-the-core sensor. You can buy a sensor and then try and slip it close to the core, you might have the remove the fan and reapply the thermal compund and put it back on. But don't actually put the diode on the core... you'll loose alof of effectivness of the fan that way...
