Gothic 3 - GOLD!

We shall see, kicking Oblivions ass ain't anything special anyway, Oblivion is pretty mediocre compared to say Daggerfall, i.e. Elder Scrolls 2.
I'll wait with buying this until das final reviews are out.

Yeah, Oblivion was quite meh, way too much hype.

Hopefully this will fulfill my RPG desire till The Witcher/NWN2 are out.

I played the last two Gothic games and didn't like them at all. I doubt this one will be better than Oblivion.

Its a completely different game from Oblivion and, as such, has totally different goals in mind and whether it meets them or not is what will make this game good.

People really need to stop comparing games and start looking at games individually and on their own merit.

Game looks like it could be great though...I'll cross my fingers just in case.

gold for europe :( ..it'll be a few weeks/months before it goes gold in north america

I think it looks just as clunky and unintuitive like the last ones, sadly.

BUT, I will reserve my proper judgement until I've actually played it.

Agreed. That was the problem with the previous games. Some parts were just amateur. The little things do matter in these kind of games, and they can't seem to get them right.

they took a lot of flack for the control system in Gothic 2 (stopped me from buying it) ..they've promised a full revamp that will make the control scheme more like other games

That's a good thing. I don't see why developers seek out to invent the wheel each time, just copy a system that works for a similar type of game.

Like the veichle control in Halo, I don't see why every action game that features veichles can't use that very control system.

It can have been best game forever if sie translation was marvelous, The.

A new GOOD Ultima game in the veins of Ultima 7 would whoop any modern-day RPGs ass tbh, but I guess I have to say that Gothic is one of the best RPG series still alive these days.. I still dream of a new game coming along like say, Darklands, that RPG whopped so much ass, it's a shame that game didn't get the planned sequels..

Because some require that the driver drive and shoot at the same time.

Thus you need one stick for movement and the other for aiming (unless you only want to target what is directly in front of the vehicle like a fixed-turret tank or something)

Every game has it's own special needs, but yes in a lot of areas such as controls and UI it is much better to copy than to innovate. (Not to go off-topic but that is advice VALVe gave us for our mod. Reason being that you don't want people to learn the UI and controls but rather learn the game instead...)
