So I am updating my video card from a 5200fx to a gForce 6 256. The problem is when i replace the Video card and plug everything in and turn it on, the computer wont boot up. Do i need to do something before I install the new hardware so it will work properly. I am useing the 5200fx right now.

is it AGP? check all the cables again as well, dont forget the cable that goes plugs in to the GForce

smells like a power supply problem mate. what PSU haveu got? if u have an inadequte PSU then the system wont POST. what card is it you have exactly? what brand?

Does the new GPU need power plugged into it, as do most GPU's these days? Did you plug it in?

you cant really jump to conclusions until he tells us which gfx card he has

Who is jumping to conclusions? We all just asked questions, and offered up a possibility or two. And he did say what card he has. Kinda.
