Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars for DS!

2D, 3D, either way it spells S - H - I - T like almost every DS game... There are like 5 good DS games. GTA on PSP sucked ass, and now they're going for the DS? Probably going to be top-down view, which was good for 1 and 2, but that's all..

There are definitely a lot more than 5 good DS games, but I agree with you in the prediction that this GTA won't be very good.

How in the hell were the PSP GTA games shit? Did you play them? Do you like GTA?

I own them, I love GTA (I thought the first 2 were the best games ever when they came out, I was like 7), the PSP it a good system, GTA didn't work on it..

PSP is a shit system for everything but as a flash drive and an MP3 player.

You never owned one, I'm guessing?

I have one. I use it as an MP3 player, to hold my pr0ns, and that's it. Also as a flash drive, occasionally.

Well, regardless I think it's games are pretty fun, plus it's useful for movies when on a roadtrip.

I need to put the Dr. Horrible series on mine. Been meaning to do that.

I don't own one but my brother does. Gaming seems enjoyable on it, when there's no PC or stationary console around. It's mobile and has it's limitations, you weren't expecting stationary system quality on it, did you?

PSP debate in a GTA DS thread.

I think you guys have your acronyms jumbled. Easy mistake, TBH. LOL.

^Post of the month.

If they don't use the touchscreen, and keep it retro styled, it'll be good. Unfortunately neither of those things will happen. My DS is gathering dust right now until I the new Final Fantasy comes out.

Go get FFTA2, that's the only usage my DS has been getting recently. Thankfull it's one of those 30+ hour games, so yeah. Addictive, huh.

So... a GTA on DS, huh...?

Never played an FFT, but I am a fan of turn based strategy so I'll give it a go.

I just recalled this. They rate it far higher than I would've.

Don't ask me where I heard this, but it's going to use the touchscreen for movement or aiming or something. I forget which. Using the d-pad to move and the stylus to shoot would work pretty well IMO. GTA 1 and 2 were awesome, but the on-foot combat kind of sucked.

Is this why the DS sales are so poor? I fully admit that the DS isn't really a GTA type of platform and maybe this iteration will suck, but to say the DS only has 5 good games is ridiculous.

Erm, no.

Edit - Wait, sarcasm, shit.

I am vanquished! D:

Ahaha, funny man. The PSP is beating DS sales right now. There are many good titles for it, It's just hard to find them in a US/EUR/AU market.

Oh and PM5 port in September. If you don't know what PM is I'm not going to tell you out of fear of being made fun of.

GTA was great on GBA, so I imagine it will be even better here! Bring it on!!

Yeah, not much. Improvements could be made with the better graphical capabilities though, as they could improve that zoom-out the GBA version tried when you got in a car to help driving at high speeds. That is if they go top-down, which they absolutely must.

Oh yes, anything else would be borderline absurd, though a first-person GTA would be pretty cool given some of the advances a few studios have made in making FPS titles actually kick-ass on the DS. Try Dementium if you don't believe me. :D

There's a good preview of Chinatown Wars in this months edge, which means screenshots should be hitting the net soon (there's a few scans floating around). It looks very cool to me - an isometric blend of the original and the newer 3d versions - and a return to what GTA started out as. A welcome change from the babysitting in GTA4.

*throws phone in the bin and tells Roman to go **** himself*

You aim with the d-pad and lock on as usual, but throwing projectiles is done via the touch screen. There's a few stylus mini games added (giving tattoos to new recruits, breaking into cars with a screwdriver etc), but nothing too obtrusive, and a drug dealing game (sounds like Dope Wars) which is blended into the main game - you basically get to sell drugs as you go about to make cash. It looks busy and bloody - I want :)

Sounds fun.

Too bad it'll never see Australian shores. :)

Lucky there's no region coding on DS games then :)

There is error coding with ROMs. Not that, you know, I use ROMs or anything.

*Prods Disgaea DS, come on, work you...*

That's out? I need to get my Acekard working again. I don't like carrying cartridges.
