Grand Theft Auto IV - The Lost and the Damned World Premier - Spike TV Trailer

So basically you just went and copied all the spike TV links, made a bunch of topics, pasted the link and didn't write anything else?

Classy.

That's what I was thinking. A 'Spike TV Trailer Premieres' thread would have sufficed. Or something.

Different game deserve there own topics so those can rant or wank on that selective game

Ignore these fools. I appreciate the effort. Looking good though I'll naturally be waiting for the PC version (which is almost inevitable).

Looks pretty cool.

Sepultura in the video for the music, too. :D Nice.

Cool looking story, kinda bored of the whole Immigrant New Guy GTA theme.

Yeah the effort of crtl-c, ctrl-v. He didn't write a bloody word in the post.

Anyway ignore this fool, encourage spam.

Spam is the kind of pointless shit that fills up the Lounge most of the time ("Who loves tentacle porn?" "I saw my best friends peen..am I gay?" etc etc), where as this is the dissemination of potentially useful information. There is a difference.

Looks kickass.

2009 looks like a good year for gaming already.

I believe that's Mr. Faustin's daughter at :29.
Mission:No Love Lost is the tie-in.

Because porting games to PC dumbs down the console versions duh.

The only real issue with GTA IV for PC is the fact that it's upgrade inducing. The actual game itself is pretty good and the environment of Liberty City is rich with possibilities as a stage for further adventures. Personally I hope Rockstar do port the lost and the damned over, and maybe the further DLC as well, and maybe add in a few expansion packs because it would be a criminal waste not to add more, to such a well realised game space.

I hope they don't give it to Rockstar Toronto if this does get ported over to the PC.

Looks to me like they're trying to cash in on the Sons of Anarchy craze.

Maybe they'll add some new guns or vehicles OR COOL SHIT THAT MAKES GTA FUN THAT THEY SHOULD HAVE ADDED.

In the PC version you can see still the files of the bikes that are going to be in the DLC. They fully work, just cut for no reason. The only problem is that adding them the the PC version cause the game to glitch up.

No chance of seeing Niko returning though, because rockstar are pissed that the voice actor moaned (quite legitimately imho) about the lack of residuals game voice actors receive Vs say TV/film voice actors. The guy who voiced Roman basically said for his entire gig he got about $16K, naturally I expect the Niko guy got a fair chunk more, but given the obscene amount of money GTA IV made R* you'd of thought they'd have cut the main voice talent(s) in for a bonus on initial sales or some such at the very least...

From the article:-

Had this been a television program, a film, an album, a radio show or virtually any other sort of traditional recorded performance, Mr. Hollick and the other actors in the game would have made millions by now. As it stands, they get nothing beyond the standard Screen Actors Guild day rate they were originally paid.

That is because the contracts between the actors? union and the entertainment industry make little or no provision for electronic media like video games and the Internet. It is a discrepancy that is expected to dominate negotiations between Hollywood and the guild this summer, with many predicting an actors? strike to parallel the writers? strike last year, which revolved around similar issues.

?Obviously I?m incredibly thankful to Rockstar for the opportunity to be in this game when I was just a nobody, an unknown quantity,? Mr. Hollick, 35, said last week over dinner in Willamsburg, Brooklyn, shortly after performing in the aerial theater show ?Fuerzabruta? in Union Square. ?But it?s tough, when you see Grand Theft Auto IV out there as the biggest thing going right now, when they?re making hundreds of millions of dollars, and we don?t see any of it. I don?t blame Rockstar. I blame our union for not having the agreements in place to protect the creative people who drive the sales of these games. Yes, the technology is important, but it?s the human performances within them that people really connect to, and I hope actors will get more respect for the work they do within those technologies.?

The guy isn't moaning at Rockstar, he's complaining about the discrepancy between working on a game, Vs working on a TV show or a film regarding ongoing residuals. Actors generally spend 70% of their time out of work as a rule, and for a lot of them they rely upon residuals as a means to make ends meet. GTA IV is probably the biggest thing this guy will ever be involved in, it's also one of the biggest selling games ever. If you were in his boots would you be happy just getting 100K for 15 months work? It seems remarkably childish of rockstar to throw the baby out with the bathwater simply because this guy speaks out tbh. Dan Houser probably built himself a mansion made of $ bills off of GTA IV.

100K for 15 months of part time/on call work? Hell yes! A lot of people don't even make half that much working full time in that amount of time.
Anyway, i really don't care. That's between him and Rockstar after all. Knowing the series, he probably wouldn't have been featured in the next game anyway. He should have done some research about his potential employer and asked for more money before singing a contract.

*sighs

You don't quite get it do you. :dozey:

Here we go again. Having an opinion is not getting it? Don't you have anything better to do than incite flame wars? By the way, adding a :dozey: after each post doesn't automatically win you an argument.

:dozey:

I could have done Nikos voice for 100k no problem. Guy should shut the hell up.

Having an opinion is not getting it?

You don't get it that he's not having a go at Rockstar (as you seem to persist in saying), but he's commenting on the fact that at present there exists no SAG residuals package in relation to actor performances in video games as a medium (unlike film & TV), and that unless you're a star like Tom Cruise generally for pretty much all acting work you get paid at a standard union agreed rate. Yes he got paid 100K for the work, but clearly did 100K of acting work for it. If he'd done it on a Film or a TV show he'd be looking at future residuals, with GTA IV there is nothing. The guy who voiced Roman got paid $16K for his work..that's ****ing peanuts tbh.

GTA IV has turned over almost a billion dollars in business for retailers, Take 2 & Rockstar , and these guys who did voice & the motion capture of the main characters, and bought them to life got paid less that .001% for their efforts, and that's all they will ever make off of it, although their characters are as memorable as Tony Montana or Keyser Soze. Sure 100K sounds like a lot, but Rockstar getting uppity about the man making a legitimate point in a newspaper, esp given the buckets of cash they've made off of their performances seems decidedly petty.

Not getting it isn't an opinion. :dozey:

Oh, i get it. I just don't care. You're getting too worked up about something that doesn't even concern you. Unless you are a disgruntled voice actor as well.

No, you quite clearly didn't get it before. :dozey:

Why do I care? Probably because it's a dick move by Rockstar to piss off the acting profession. They did a similar thing with Ray Liotta over Vice City a while back as well, and the thing is ultimately it will probably come back and bite them in the ass when the SAG do set a standard for residuals on VA work. They could of cut the main VA talent in on sales bonuses (like the R* staffers no doubt all received) and everyone would of been happy. As it is they might screw over the rest of the games industry by taking the high hat everytime.

some new info and footage:

http://www.gametrailers.com/gametrailerstv_player.php?ep=48

"One fan theory about the second DLC stating that the main character will be Luis Lopez from the "Museum Piece" mission (because the Xbox 360 achievement is called "Impossible Trinity," with the three characters being Niko, Johnny, and Luis) was noted by the Rockstar employee as "interesting.""

very interesting theory! makes total sense considering the 2 DLC episodes were planned BEFORE the release of GTAIV

either way, i'm f***in excited about this first episode; looks top notch
