Hi guys,

When I try to switch the gfx settings on TF2, I get alot of graphic artifacts - vertical bands, squares, dots etc.

When I immediately restart, even Windows shows up like it too.

I turned off my computer for now so it can cool down. I'm posting from my work laptop. It's an OLD computer: P4 2.8 Ghz, 1 GB RAM, RADEON 9800 Pro. Does this mean my gfx card is dying? :(

I think so. I had that problem earlier in the year and it turns out my card was melted.

Cool down your card like ****. I think nVidia has some overclocking tools that can also control your fans: put them at max rpm if possible. The damage may have already been done, though :(

I get a weird problem in gravelpit at B. One of the polygons that form a part of the window's model stretches all the way across the room.

Not sure if this is GFX card related or a bug with the game.

whats your gpu?
Radeon 9800 Pro, 128 MB.

As for the stretching, that's a different, very fixable issue. Thinks it's your drivers and turning down some settings.

By the way, after 15-20min. of use, my Windows is starting to get f-ed up graphics-wise. I'm beginning to back-up all my stuff in case of a meltdown.

Sorry for the bump, but I took a pictures of what I'm facing nowadays. This happens after 5 minutes of Guild Wars.

Does it look permanent?

Mine is going the same as well. Luckily it's only happening in-game but I'm preparing for the worse. :/

how

I get the graphic stretches off of models and such, anyone know what that is about? It happens in hl2, cs:source, and and application that uses the hl2 engine, Iv tried reinstalling hl2, graphic drivers, and everything else.

I get that, only in TF2, and only with the Heavy and Scout. So I'd randomly see this thin line from the heavy/scout all the way off the map. Quite weird.

Yea does anyone else have this problem/and or fixed it? Sometimes the models branch off in an almost stretched manor which can sometimes make the screen almost all white in flickering models.

check to see if your 9800s cooling fan is working. thats overheating definitely.

my 9800 started dying, doing stuff like that. Then it got worse.

I seriously suggest getting a new card, or it'll eventually do it on a DOS window (i.e. boot)

the idle temp is around 82C and thats with an actual house fan right on my opened up case. Should i try buying a new gpu heatsink/fan ? or is the video card shot.

ya your video card cooler is dead. also your card is dying too. i highly doubt a new cooler will help since the damage might already be done.

the only reason i dont think my gpu is dead because it runs fine until it hits a certain temp then ingame is goes all crazy. I am going to try and see if a new heatsink/fan will work because i still get good frames ingame

-is this is a good idea or am i wasting my time?
