Hello, I'm somewhat new to the forums, this being the first post to the Art section. I was just wondering whether you could recommend any graphic tablets. I see that the Wacom brand appears to be quite popular. I had my eyes set on a Graphire 3 with the standard paint package. However the website from which I wish to purchase the product has the Graphire 2 listed as being more expensive!

Now I'm a tad confused, is the Graphire 3 the latest and best Wacom Graphic Tablet or is the Graphire 2 better? I assumed the Graphire 3 was the latest and therefore best product but I have no idea in regards to the brands of graphic tablets.

Could someone please clarify things for me? :E

Afraid not. I'm a noob.
Although it does make sense that the 3 would be better than the 2...well, someone will know. And I bet it's snowball.

well if you had the money, i'd say DEFINITELY go with the intuos line. they're very nice. from what i can tell, the graphire 3 is the same as a graphire2 but just newly designed. i have a graphire2, works just fine, i love it. one of my friends just got a graphire3, and i don't really see any diff.
...hope this helps...

Thanks for helping clear things. I think I will get that Graphire 3 after all :E .

How much they selling it for, and where are you getting it from?

I should be getting it from www.dabs.com, for £69.99 inc VAT. It's the 'Classic' package with the painter program. Though I won't be buying it for some time now. I just spent quite a bit of money having to buy damn books for Univrsity. I have to save up some money to make up the difference.

Im getting myself one also soon after I save for a down payment on a new car but here is the one im gonna buy;
The Wacom intuos2 9x12 PLATINUM.

The intuos2 platinums are the high end top of the line tablets. They are the industry standard.
The graphire2 and graphire3 are way too small for me. The Graphire3 comes with in a 4x5 and 6x8 inch size which is not what im looking for. I want something that is big and the 9x12 and maybe even the 12x12 are awesome. Although they are very prices, I believe they are worth it, especially for professionals or people in graphic and illustration designing. But for people just getting into it and to try it out, I guess the graphires would work fine. Good luck with your purchase.

Wow, I don't think I could afford that on a part time job salary! My parents would kill me for spending so much money! Seeing as I will only be using the the graphic tablet to continue my spare time drawing hobby, which I have somewhat neglected as of late, I think I'll get the Graphire 3. Thanks for the help, it's much appreciated!

The Wacom Cintiq 18SX looks awesome. If only I had the money...
