I'm running the Orange Box version of Episode 2, fully updated, with the latest drivers for a 512 meg EVGA 8800GT.

HL2 proper and Ep 1 and Lost Coast all run perfectly, but Episode 2 has a problem. From the very start, certain objects (the rocks that you can pick up, Alyx's belt thing, broken pieces of wood) flicker, as though the source of light they're reflecting is changing position with every couple of frames. It's amazingly irritating, and no amount of fiddling with graphics settings makes it stop.

Any ideas?

I'm getting the exact same problem and it's making me not want to even play the game. The first time I started the game up I saw it happening so I tried switching resolutions and the system slowed to a crawl (didn't crash). Portal worked ok for me, and I haven't tried TF2 yet. I'll do so now. Did you get anything to work for you?

oh! this is to bad! I have the same problem and tought i could get the answer here, but damn, I hope Steam or Nvidia fix this irretating problem. I mean here we go and buy new graphicscards and what do we get, PROBLEMS.
