I was thinking of getting a Radeon 9800 Pro 128 Video Card, 8x AGP, 128MB DDR for my comp. I have a Pentium 4 processor 3.0Mhz , 512 Mb RAM with GeForce 5200 FX. I was wonder if my system was powerful enough to handle the certain demands that Half Life 2 needs to run smoothly and if that particular card would bring out all of the great visuals that the game has. Thx and If anyone needed more information about my system, let me know and tell me how I can find that information out on my comp. Thx.

The card should do it, yeah...
Maybe check up on the prices of a 256mb 9800? if they make 'em.. of course then, you may also want to upgrade the ram.. maybe another 128mb stick if your motherboard has room.

i think they make the 256 mb. Is the x700 256 MB pro better than the 9800. What would another 128 mb do to the performance of the game?

well the x700 won't fit in your computer so i'd have to say the 9800:thumbs:

So whats the story on the x600, 700, and 800's? How come you say it won't fit in my computer? does the x600 perform better than 9800?. Im just trying to get my money's worth, not trying to rush a get something.

no its just that the x600 and x700 are PCI EXPRESS only not agp 8x they are 2 different slots so i would go with the 9800 pro or better yet the xt

I think you should go with the 6600gt over the 9800pro. Its slightly better but it has PS 3.0 and and a couple of other things, plus its a newer card, not a previous generation card. I remeber I was having a hard time deciding, but after much research, I went with the 6600gt.

well. on a Radeon 9600 everything works fine. on my comp. what does it cost today?

This probably be my last post on this but, tell me, Am I getting an major upgrade in quality from a GeForce 5200 to a possible ATI 9800 or x800?

9800, not sure, it'll be better for sure though, x800 - definately it;s about the best series for HL2 you can buy

lonewolf i was looking at your stats and i see you have a 9600 pro. How does that do with hl2?
