About how hot should a ati9800 get when playing games at high LOD and high res. for instance Doom3?

Under 100 C is okay

However, if the temperture is around 80 to 100 C, I would recommend taking a look at your case cooling. Simply adding a case fan or re-positioning some wires can fix your problem

Anything below 80C is okay.

You just contradicted yourself blah.

My video card (9600 Pro) idles at 40 C.

Me contradict myself? Never...

What I meant was that your graphics card is built to handle upto 100C tempertures, though you should be concerned if it is above 80C under load.

I probably contradicted myself again. Oh Well. :p

I don't know the temps, but I know the 9800 pros run hot.

It's weird. When I first got my 6800 GT, it was running really hot. Nearly got to 90C under full stress sometimes. After a few weeks of using it it seems to be getting cooler and cooler. It now idles at like 50C and RARELY breaks 75C at full load.

I'd love to find out my temps. Is there a win diagnostic or something? I have a 9800pro.
