I've been out of the loop as far as graphics cards and I'm wondering if you guys could help.

While I was away at college, my brother in law accidentally somehow warped my graphics card while reassembling it. He said he would foot the bill for a large part of a new one and suggested that I use this as an opportunity to upgrade. I talked to my parents and they were okay with it but I have no idea which one to get. I have some parameters though:

*I would prefer it to be nVidia
*must be stronger than a GeForce 6600 (my old one, I got it for a bargain a year ago, 1/3 its retail price)
*must be lower than $200(on ebay)

Any ideas?

why ebay?
you can buy a 7900gs or a 8600gts new for that price on newegg

Which slot did your 6600 card go into. AGP, PCI-Express 16x or PCI?
And Newegg.com would be a really good place to pick up a card. Very fast delivery and fairly low prices. And of course awesome customer service.

If you have a PCI-Express 16x slot then Nvidia 8600GTS or ATI HD2600XT would be a good pick I guess. Performance

If you have AGP then you won't find a Nvidia DX10 card atm. ATI HD 2600 Pro is for AGP though.

I think I'm set on the Nvidia 8600 GT.
Now, do any of you have any experience with this card? How does it handle relatively new games like Bioshock and Medieval 2 Total War? And some older ones like Oblivion and Company of Heroes?
