Graphics cards.. why buy best??

With the way technology is moving these days i can understand why people are buying such expensive graphics cards... Doesnt it make more sence to buy a 'Decent' card every year instead of buying the ultra hardcore pro-gamers cards? My mate bought a $600 card last year and now its just utter crap. any $200 card (such as 9600) would be better then what he has. i think people should think a little b4 they go all out..

Well, most people upgrade once their old card get's outdated...so, most people here had last gen cards, and since there have been many many nice goodies with the latest gen, people with money upgraded...I don't see any problem.

Well for the people who can afford buying a new card every 6 months I guess the money isn't an obstacle for them. I wouldn't get the top of the line $500 cards, but I would get a $400 6800GT or $300 6800.

Yeah if I could afford it I would have top of the line stuff in my PC, so good on ya to those who can afford it (and shove it to you kiddies who get it paid for by mummy and daddy).

Well, that's why I put Compusa's replacement plan on my card.

Within 2 years I can take it back saying its broke and they won't have my 6800GT on the shelf so they give me the replacement for it or I can pay the difference and get a better card yet. No joke, ask about it.
