I know about all the Nvidia vs ATI battle going on at the moment, but disregarding that.. I have a Geforce Ti4600 (which is a Direct-X 8.x card) will my DX8 card still run DX9 features like the pixel shaders etc... dis-regarding performence issues?

no it wont... you said it yourself its a directx8 card... it runs direct x8 and below features. but it wont run directx9 features...

you can have directx9 on ur pc but it wlil jst run with directx8 features and ignore the directx9 features!

therook

Face it: NO DX8 CARD CAN RUN DX9 HARDWARE FEATURES!!!!
This is like the 4th time I see the same kind of question. Its not physically possible. HOWEVER, the G4 has PS 1.3 support (and 1.1), you arent left out of the PS loop. It just wont look as good as using PS 2.0. Also, it wont be as fast, so one probably have to turn of some of the fancier features anyway.

the ti4600 has performed (based on the benchmarks) quite good, however, you don't have the cool dx9 features.
