Graphics problem (character faces and some other textures)

I have no idea what happened. It never did this before when I first installed it. It happened after I tried a lot of things to fix the bloody sound stuttering problem (did the mat_forcetexturesintohardware or whatever code, installed new BETA video card drivers for ATI AIW 9800 pro) and I've reverted everything back to the way it was before I did all the sound stuttering 'remedies' and it still does this. I've tried everything (including defragging) short of deleting and reinstalling HL2 to fix this. I don't know why it does this.

It's not a skin problem. When the characters move around the glitch moves all over their faces. A couple of the screenshots are taken almost the same time to show what happens when you move around specifically the shot of the barrel there. I'm thinking it's a light shade thing bug or a shine texture bug or something. I really don't know. Anyone have any ideas? It's really starting to bug me and I don't want to bother reinstalling it.

Several people have had this problem. I can only suggest reinstalling HL2.

I have the exact same problem.. Well I have the problem with the faces, no objects are messed up for me.

yeah I've had that problem before...weird
