This has probably been mentioned before but I couldn't find where so...
...the upcoming Half-Life 2 release on the Xbox 360, which will also include Episode One, Episode Two, Team Fortress 2 and the original Half-Life 2, upgraded to high-definition with a number of visual bells and whistle added.
...
the team showed of Half-Life 2 on the 360, calling it the best looking title yet. High-dynamic range lighting has been added, as well as some excellent reflection effects. We only saw a minute of the Canals level. The sky was simply amazing, brighter and more colorful than ever, and it had already looked damn good. The Combine chopper was reflected in the ripples of the water, its shadow looming ominously on the canal walls. It was only a few seconds, but it looked wonderful.

Given that when Valve did HL2 on the XBox they did some optimisations that ended up in the PC Source engine do people think it is plausible/possible that these graphics updates for HL2 on the 360 may some day wind up on the PC versions as well?

i should think so..probably be hdr+higher polygons+higher texture res+phong shading

They've already told us that they're going to do that. Of course, it will take absolute ages since they're working on new products now.

I hope that the include the graphics update in the Black Box but we don't know.

all the new games in the black box are going to support duel core right? Will the whole source engine be updated for that, or just the games in the black box, because I'd love to run a newer version of hl2 even better then an old one.

I believe the multiple core support for Source will be a general Source update that affect all Source games. It's not like the HDR upgrade which needs a map file configured to use it.

thats what i was hope'n for, but im still hope'n for hdr in all ( or just hl2 ) maps. The muti-core support will help with those big hdr maps as well. And while where on the subject, When i run HL2:E1 with HDR on i get like 13-25 fps however it feels nothing like 13-25 fps, its feels more like into the 30-45 range. why do i get such a low reading but with what feels like a higher performance?
