Great. Finally Get SS2 Working, But It Freezes 2 Minutes Into The Game.

I FINALLY got it working on XP, but 2 minutes into the game it freezes, and I have to restart my computer. I would go to that help section on TTLG.com forums, but with my amazing luck, the website is down, which is why I'm asking if any of you know how to fix this...

Once I start and step off the tram, the guy talks and once he says something about the rails on the walkway it freezes.. I'm going crazy.. I've downloaded this mod (not rebirth, it's even better than rebirth) that makes almost 100% (probably 97%) of the game retextured with hi-res textures... This game looks really fun. I want to play. WTF.

I have the patches, I downloaded it from underdogs, and I had to crack it. I know thats not the problem though, because even people who bought the game have the same problem with it freezing a few minutes into the game..

Also - The mod is NOT Rebirth.

I read on a forum that if I un-installed, and re-installed "Typical" instead of "full" it'd work, what do you think?

I've got a copy of the game lying around and play every few months. Full install + patch works fine.

the freeze problem sound very similar to what I'm experiencing with ss2(and the old thief-series)...start the game, while in the menu alt-tab and open task manager, choose system shock -> go to process-> right click -> set connection(don't know if this is the right translation, but the bottom option in right click menu anyways)- > disable the second cpu(this is assuming you've got HT)-> alt tab back to game and enjoy. unfortunately you'll have to do this each time you want to play.

I can do that, I've got to re-install to "full", because "typical" does NOT work, I get to menu, but can't start game, with "full" I could atleast get to the game...

Mine isn't set connection, it's set affinity, CPU 0, and CPU 1, I guess I disable CPU 1?

Holy crap, it works! I've played up to the 2nd level of actual fighting, and not 1 problem! I even have mods installed! THANK YOU!

Scared the crap out of my when I saw a ghost of the worker wanting to be let out of that room.. He just popped out of no where! Also the hanging body *shudders* creepy! I LOVE IT!

This game is sooo damn in-depth, and I've only found about 7 different chemicals, 2 weapons (wrench, pistol, 3 if you count black ops thingy), and soda's.. Thank you for that tip, I'm so glad I can finally play this game, it's fantastic! Thanks to everyone else who tried to help, too.

I should have went tech, though.. I went Marine (I figured being a noob that it would've been easier to use just weapons).. Tech helps soooo much.. Navy ftw?
