Greetings! Some of you may know me as Dr. Walter Lansing, from Halflifesource.com. This thread is basically to inform those who followed my "adventures" so to speak, that I am in the process of putting together a website, since Halflifesource.com itself is... dying.

Anyways, the website Url is http://www.geocities.com/drwalterlansing/

And the direct link to the forum is http://com5***nboard.com/bstatusreport

Hopefully there is no problem me posting this here. If there is, please inform me.

Thank you for your time.

I believe it's against rules to advertise your site, before getting the OK from an admin.

Edit: You are hosting your site on Geocities? :p Except it to go down very soon, I believe the max views per hour is 25? Not to get you down, but don't expect your site to grow if you aren't spending money on it.

I am happy halflifesource is dead and gone. It needs not a predecessor.

Oh, I hope it isn't against the rules. If a moderator could let me know, it would be great.

As well, I am not trying to be a predecessor to HLS. I am trying to start an entirely different community.

I'm feeling generous so I'll let it pass. This is the first I've heard of Halflifesource dying though? Any chance you could shed some light on this as I've seen nothing stated on the site about it.

There is a thread posting in General Offtopic about it. You probably havn't noticed because it has one of those titles that don't tell you anything about the actual subject of the thread. *shakes fist*

Also, could you shed some light on these forum updates? I see some new features.

It isn't official. Basically, all of the "veterans" so to speak have left the site. It is not "dead" in the sense that it is not being taken care of, but they are lucky to get five posts in an hour. It is simply dead in terms of people interacting with the website.

The reason for the veterans leaving is one, the slowdown in joining and community interaction, and the fact that a moderator apparently named Skybert has no respect for the democratic process. He made a group go through the actions of getting elected as moderator, and then at the end, chose one himself, making the entire process obsolete.

As well, bannings are taking place on a whim. Even if you don't break a rule, you can be banned if the moderators don't like it. It is quite unfortunate.

And thank you Munro. Perhaps I will eventually see you on the Status Report forums?

Ah so the site isn't actually shutting down then, that's where I was getting confused. I thank you for the invitation to your forums but I have trouble finding the time to post in my own ones at the moment. Me posting right now is extremely rare :)

You can tell a forum is dying when it turns into a lawless wasteland, the level of order breaks down... like one of those post-apocalyptic movies, where the cops have all gone insane and just shoot whoever they feel like, or whoever interrupts their looting.
The powerful elite have all left or are hiding in sealed bunkers... the government is destroyed, the capitol a smouldering pile of rubble.. citizens stay hidden, only darting from one hole to the next at the most fleetingly rare times.

Not even the trolls and spammers target the dead forum any longer, there is not enough life to feed such parasites... soon it will be an uninhabited ghost forum.

Bliink, I thought I told you to stop watching all those zombie movies. :P

so, when this forum breacks down, all the admins will hide in their impenetratable staff forums, the mods will ban randomly, and us normal people will be in constant danger?

When that happens, I wanna lead a revolution. :P

btw, Dr, geocities don't work that well.

No one's going to pay any attention to you until you get a domain.

15357, I do believe Jellyworld meant a .com or .net domain. Or atleast one that you have to pay for.

Why would it matter if I have to pay for it or not. The content is there, and whether or not I pay money for it should not matter at all.

Anyways, my first update is up there, if you care to read.
