Composer Harry Gregson-Williams, best known in the gaming world for his work on Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater (along with the forthcoming Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots), will provide the main theme and music production for Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. Gregson-Williams, who built his career scoring Hollywood hits like Armageddon and Shrek, collaborated on the soundtrack with Stephen Barton, who contributed the bulk of the original score.

"Harry Gregson-Williams was the perfect choice to craft an immersive and rich soundtrack that matches the heightened atmosphere and tension of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare," said Grant Collier, studio head at developer Infinity Ward. "Harry's wealth of experience, passion and intensity, together with the talents of young composer, Stephen Barton, shine through in the score [and] draws gamers deeper into the epic and cinematic experience that is Call of Duty 4."

A full orchestra was enlisted to perform the soundtrack, which was largely recorded at Abbey Road Studios in London. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare will be available on November 5th for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC, and Nintendo DS.

I like Williams

Cool.

Anyone else starting to hate it when developers talk about making their game a "rich, immersive experience"? There's something ominous about that for some reason.

Always nice to have a good Musical score - need to get the blood pumping as you're about to jump out of a plane as part of Operation Overlord.

That's cool.

A game's soundtrack is important to me in regards to immersion.

Awesome, his epic music will make game even cooler.

Awesome news. His scores are terrific.

Now if only IW's Community liaison could get his shit together and re-open a dialogue with the PC crowd, that would be really exciting. So far he's hardly fulfilling his job title.

LOVE those other scores too. I actually bought a couple of them (import). Should bode well for CoD4.
