I just finished this, and woah...I've never played an adventure game before (not fond of them) but this impressed me quite a bit. The characters, the world, the story...I guess the graphics for its time. Only gripe I had with it was probably the lack of time spent with some characters. Olivia and Salvador felt a little underdeveloped considering their big roles later on, and Lola more so.

Anyway, discuss.

The game is one of my favorites, i actually cryed a bit at the end (stfu) but it was just so emotional.

Love the game, hope for a sequel.

A sequel including Manny and Meche wouldn't work, but I'd at least love to see another game set in the same universe.

Everything from Tim Schaffer is great. If you like adventure with kickass and really funny stories... buy his games :)

I had this years ago... then lost it.... and recently I found it in a bargain shop for a quid. I'm literally about to start playing my way through again. This thread reminded me. :)

Yeah, this game is great. I can't beat it without printing the whole damn walkthrough though.

Its awesome. Glottis is one of my favorate game characters ever!

"Before we crawled on our bellies like snakes. Now we shall soar like eagles! Like eagles on pogo sticks!"

if its your first adventure game then i would recommend the monkey island games. 1 and 2 are great, 3 is pretty good and 4 is ok i guess if only cos it brought back guybrush for another outing.

you should be able to get a program called scummVM which emulates the original 2 games - hence free and no reason not to check them out

Bought GF a while back, can't get it to install though, the installer complains about 16bit then dies or something.
Love the MI games though, got all 4, 3rd one is my favourite, all worth a play though.

This game is awesome!

I lost the disks sometime ago, but I'd like to play it again sometime.

I guess I'll be able to buy it for £5, and re-live the good memories. Don't think I've played it since it was first released.
Although, I'm sure I've forgotten all of the adventures now, so playing it again will just be a little bit like Deja vu.

Also Day of the Tentacle!

I loved the Secret Of Monkey Island but I didn't like them as well as they went down the series. Don't recall why, I have not played them forever.

Space Quest (funny) and Kings quest games are also good.

Exactly how I feel about MI4. ;(

And yes, +1 to any Monkey Island game and using ScummVM.

Like i said, Tim Schafer games! He worked on Day of the Tentacle and the early Monkey Island games... hes the answer to everything! Buy his games!

For those having problems with the 16-bit subsystem thing, I had the same problem. Use this link, scroll down to where it says "Question I just recently installed XP Service Pack 2 (SP2). Why won't my old games work anymore?". Now, click on the Xp_fix.exe. Should fix it :)

I wish Broken Sword had used GF's style of 3D - characters only. BS doesn't even have movement relative to the character (Resident Evil style).

PSYCHONAUTS MAKER GUY!

I want to find a copy of Grim Fandango, but obviously it's not in EB anymore and I don't have a credit card....

DOTT, grim fandango, monkey island series, Indiana Jones and the fate of atlantis... all terrific games from when lucas arts was still good.

Tim did all the good games that came from Lucas Arts back in the days (Monkey island (co-writer on the first games) DOTT, Full Throttle, Grim Fandango. If you want old Lucas Arts back then I have the answer... www.doublefine.com. :)

My hero!
Playing through Grim Fandango now. :)

And if you want a NEW Tim Schafer game, go grab Psychonauts. It's on EBay for 10 bucks!
