I'm thinking it might be a nice idea to get either guitar hero: world tour or rock band 2 for my GF for xmas. She has really enjoyed the games in the past and think it might make quite a nice edition to the 360 games we already have.

My question is which should I go for, I really hate all the wireless crap but the one time I played rock band I hated the drum kit. I'm swaying more towards Guitar hero ish.

So yea, anyone got any ideas?

360= RB.
Anything else= WT.

Also GH's style I find a lot better (the style of notes). I guess if you're not willing to pay for DLC and you don't like the RB instruments then WT is the go.

Looking around it does seem rock band 2 is reviewing better. Esp on metacritic.

I asked this exact question here not long ago and basically it became clear to go for RB2.

However for me as I live in the UK and am getting it on Ps3 I will be waiting a while but i'll also pick up GHWT on disc.

RB2 is generally viewed as better I think, although the guitar part on GH:WT seems better than the guitar on RB2.

Ignore angsty Koola.

The instruments all have to be cross-compatible too, so you can get the instruments you prefer and both games solus if you like.

Edit: I think it's only mandatory for the 360, not sure on PS3.

So whats the release date for the RB2 bundle with the drums and stuff?

I'd make a decision based on which has better music, as you'll get mighty sick of the songs after a while so they might as well be good ones.

what do you mean mandatory on 360?

For RB2 and GH:WT, Microsoft has made the companies make their instruments work on the opposition's games. RB1 and GH3 had limited cross-compatibility, with GH guitars working on the 360 version of RB1 but that was about it.

So you only need one guitar, one drum peripheral and one microphone, even if you want to play both games.

That's the same on the PS3. Or at least it's supposed to be for some unknown reason the GHWT drums on PS3 won't work on PS3 RB2 despite the assurances it would :|

What the hell? That was the whole basis of my buying the games. I was going to get the GH bundle and pick up the RB disc and guitar.

Liars.

What? <_<

Audiosurf. Already have? Nothing.
Oh yeah its $2.49 still.

For the last time (I tell my friends this a lot), AUDIOSURF IS NOT GUITAR HERO WITH A HOVER CAR. IT IS COMPLETELY DIFFERENT. Audiosurf is supposed present a psychadelic racetrack/puzzle based on a song's pitch and intensity. Guitar Hero simulates playing a guitar at a concert. IT'S A VERY DIFFERENT THING AND I OWN BOTH AND GUITAR HERO IS BETTER.

Well I've played both and GH sucks mah balls. And I've played a bit of real guitar too. Simulation my ass.

If you want a song in RB/GH that plays almost exactly like it would on a real guitar, play Chop Suey. Its almost exactly the same.

When is RB2 out in the uk with all the controlers? Anyone have any ideas?

Cant find any information about it.

I think the bundle is due out in December. The game solus is out any time from tomorrow until the 21st depending on how quickly it gets shipped out to the shops, and I think the instruments are due out soon on their own. The other controllers will work fine with it though.
