February 15, 2005 - David Jones, creator of the original Grand Theft Auto, will work with Korean MMORPG specialist Webzen in producing and publishing All Points Bulletin (or APB), a massive online game based set in the world of cops and criminals.
In All Points Bulletin, players will choose to play with the Squads -- keepers of law and order -- or the defiant Gangs, who lead lives of crime, spraying graffiti, grabbing cash, and customizing cars (paid for, of course, by grabbed cash). The game will feature entire cities based on real-world metropolises, and offer players plenty of customization by way of weapons, clothing, vehicles, music, and attitude.
"As an avid gamer and creator of many single player games, it has been my dream to create an online game experience that provides the player with the ultimate freedom to do whatever he wants, in a thriving, living environment," said David Jones. The game is under development at Jones's Real Time Worlds studio.
While APB isn't slated for release until early 2007, Jones and Webzen hope to preview the title at this year's E3. We'll be there, of course, and meantime, we'll keep you updated with more news on the game as it comes in.
