The upcoming episode of the video game Grand Theft Auto IV looks to be a wild one.

This new episode, available Feb. 17 via download exclusively for those who own the Xbox 360 version (no price yet), stars Johnny Klebitz, a member of Liberty City biker gang The Lost.

"Johnny is a very different character than Niko, with a very different background," says Dan Houser, vice president of creative development for Rockstar Games. "I can't go into too much detail on the story, because we try not to give away too much plot before the game is released. But I can say that the story will show you a different side of Liberty City."

In the original game, Niko crossed paths with The Lost several times. This time, Niko has only a bit part, Houser says. "The story is not directly impacted by decisions you took in the main game," he says. But "tons of details and mysteries from the main story get explained, so it will add a lot of color to the main story."

'Damned' will offer hours of gameplay, not just extras

Seems quite late to me. Is anyone really still playing this? I would love to get some stats as to who on Live is still having fun in Liberty City.

It will also be interesting to see how many people actually buy it. I know I would not spend any further funds on this. It was $60 anyway and now they want more? No thanks. Free DLC or nothing for me in this case. Microtransactions FTL.

well to be fair this is a whole new story arc ..it's not just some clothes or paint job for your car. Just think of it as a new GTA game/expansion without all the superfulous shit rockstar usually throws in there to fill in 40 hours worth of gaming ..rockstar condensed usually means high quality

Too bad it's only on 360. It'll be the first GTA content I haven't played since GTA3 (unless it gets ported to PC or elsewhere).

It's pretty annoying to me honestly. I normally see platform exclusivity bitching as nerdy and immature but I have to admit I do feel a bit alienated by Rockstar. If I didn't enjoy the games so much it might inspire a "**** it" attitude and prevent me from buying future installments, but unfortunately the series is just too goddamn good.

As far as the content, it's impressive that there's a new character and a new story arc. I'm curious as to the length though, and I don't particularly like the biker "style" ... but it still seems like a significant amount of content for DLC.

Sure, but how many people are willing to pay an additional $20 to have another (short) story to play out in Liberty City? Think of the people who bought the Limted Edition who already have spent over $100 on GTAIV. GTA for me is about driving around and causing mayhem and I don't have to spend another $20 (or so) to do that.

I still intend to play the SHIT out of GTA IV, especially when it comes to PC if my computer can run it.

I just haven't had the time, so many other things going on. So many distractions.

I have played GTA IV so ****ing much and I still play it at least twice a month, just shitting around or flying rat hunting or just zooming around admiring the place.

Can't freaking wait for this.

A bit disappointed that when I heard the title and saw the logo that it wasn't a zombie apocalypse.

(see, zombies, amirite?)

Looks awesome.

The Lost and Damned features a new main character and plot that intersects with the storyline of Grand Theft Auto IV; new missions that offer an entirely fresh way to explore Liberty City with new multiplayer modes, weapons and vehicles; and a diverse soundtrack with additional music.

All I needed to hear. And it's the first of two.

God I came.

Microsoft paid Take-Two fifty or sixty million for the exclusivity, I can't remember which.

Given they paid that much, and given they'll want to make their money back and given the present financial situation the world finds itself in I fully expect that 'exclusivity' will be downgraded to a time issue. No way with a potential audience on PC probably willing and able to buy the DLC as an expansion or through GFW Live, 3 -6 months down the road after it's console debut, will either R* or MS want to pass it up.

Those PS3 jerks get LittleBigPlanet exclusivity. **** them.

Or we can trade.

Sounds like its going to be something like Sons of Anarchy
Hopefully it will be good.

If it had been zombies I probably would bye GTA4.

Hopefully they will release this to those who are not willing to pay ?30 or whatever for xbox live, I want my add on with a disc goddamnit!

Xbox Live Silver is free with an internet connection. The only cost will be that of the expansion itself.

Perfect timing on the annoucement. Few days after I sold me XBOX.
