Okay... you know, I was just watching a news story on that helicopter that crashed into a house, killing two on board and the entire family in the house survived.
I hear the dad say something along the lines of, "Somebody was protecting us".
I can't remember the exact quote, but it was something along those lines.
So it gets me thinking that the notion of guardian angels and how over half of Americans believe they are protected from harm by them.
When somebody in a helicopter crashes into your house, and the people on board die, and you and your family are spared, you should be very thankful and consider yourself lucky. But believing you were spared by some greater power, while two other people died in the event? Your guardian angel protected you? Where was their guardian angel? Where was he when they crashed? Did their guardian angels rationalize that god wanted better things for them as part of his divine plan by ending their lives in a horrible fashion?
Where are the guardian angels when little kids develop cancer, living out the rest of their limited days miserably before dying? Are they up in heaven doing better things with god? If god was so sure he wanted them up there with him as part of his divine plan so soon, why did he give them life on this painful earth and providing them with painful and heartbreaking existences? To build character?
Where are the guardian angels of victims of violent crime? Did the guardian angels of the criminals subdue the guardian angels of the victims and prevent them from delivering protection? Did the godlessness of the criminals trump the godliness of the victims?
What are we teaching our kids here?
"Hey Billy! Don't forget your Guardian Angel is protecting you! That is, unless he's not and you die."
Sorry. I'm bitter. I wanted to make a stupid thread.
