I got the game a few days ago and it has been great so far. However I am getting lonely and am not sure how to get the best loot and XP.

I have never played an MMORPG before, so if anyone who has played the game has any advice for me that would be great :D .

Also I have heard about a HL2.net clan in the game and I am wondering if I could join or how I could contact someone from the guild.

Hey, you're right that there's an active hl2.net guild. Add the following people to your friends list:

Triia Lostwind
Logonitur Karn
Malae Delwynn
Rico the Barbarian
Howling Monkey

And whisper one of us for a Guild invite. Alternatively, just give us your in-game name, and we'll send you an invite.

I got the game for x-mas.

IMO its o.k.

I havent really played that much of it (got to lvl 4, and messed around with PVP characters). I think since my only other MMORPG was WoW, nothing seems right in GW. Maybe its because i havent played with anyone except one pretty noobish pickup group. Ill try and give it another go, hopefully i get into the game. (because ive already beat COD2, and the multiplayer is getting old. :D )

I had a lvl 20 r/me and w/m but I got bore with it because it's so repeditive

Just play through the game, don't worry about xp and loot so much. Play through the missions. Have fun with different skills and classes. It's good to have money but really there is no need because you can get nearly perfect stuff for cheap. Money is only needed for people who want perfect gold items, expensive (but not better) armor and other money sink items.

Try to get as high a level as you can before the searing... once you get to level 20 and ascension, find your way to the Deldrimor War Camp, it's the best place for farming. All enemies drop 100+ gold and max damage weapons. If you're looking for exp and money early on, don't get too excited. Your only option for that is to kill enemies within the range of 1 level below yours to 1 above. Kneel in front of statues of gods to make them appear, you can buy special things from them. If you want to go farming with me ever, add "Tira Rokoro" to your friends list.

yea, I am just completely burned out on this game tooo....its no fun after like level 12....

Thanks for all the advice. I am now almost level 13 (ele/mo) and have made it to yaks bend.

I do agree about the XP. Quests give you way more experience then monsters. Once I've got some decent stuff I want to try some PvP.

How long does it take to explore ever area? I've only uncovered a little bit of the map and am almost Lv20. Is most of the game designed for the 20 player?

Yes most of the game is designed for a level 20. South Shiverpeaks and onward is pretty much level 20.

I got to level..20-23..can't remember. I just can't get myself to play anymore. I get sooo fuggin bored. :( I mean, I played again a few weeks ago, and I decided to see if it's gonna take forever to level up. 2 hours later, still only gained about 1/2 an inch in the EXP bar while doing a mission *I had to run a hellavua long way to get there* so I finished the mission, didn't even have it 1/2 way yet..and quit. bleh

Keep in mind that you can PvP any time you want using character with the maximum attribute points, max armor and weapons. As you unlock skills, items and runes in PvE, they'll become available to you for PvP. Once you start, you'll earn faction, which you can then use to unlock things, as well.

It can take a long time to completely explore the map. I took my time with my first character and explored almost everything. My next two were hurried along a little faster. Once you get to the Crystal Desert (where you ascend) and the southern Shiverpeaks you'll want to be level 20. If you're level 13 at Yaks, you're doing great. Even though you won't get the best skills for a while, those attribute points can make a huge difference.

If you want someone to play with, you're always welcome to join the hl2.net guild. It's always more fun to play with a group you know; PUGs can get pretty depressing. We're still quite active and starting to do a lot of GvG (and getting pretty good now, too!) and most of us know the missions and quests very well. I'd be happy to help you out if you need anything. I know a lot of people say they've become bored with the game but those of us in the guild have stuck it out because we enjoy PvP, experimenting with builds and most of all, just playing together.

We're getting a new site started up, if you're interested. It's at http://hlrepublic.proboards79.com/index.cgi?. We don't have much on it yet, so you could have a look at the old site at http://www.dpetkofsky.com/guildforum/index.php.

If there is anyone else out there who is interested in doing more GvG, let us know. We could always add you as a guest if you're already in a guild, or we could set up an unrated GvG. We like to practice! Post here, on our site, or contact me, Triia Lostwind, or any of the people on Narcolepsy's list. We're always looking for active members.
