Basically, I'm just interested to find out which game you would prefer to buy.

Now, World Of Warcraft, bieng an MMORPG, will last for a lot longer than Guild Wars. You're getting your moneys worth. I've been playing for at least 13 days now (That's 312 hours, just on one character; not including the 5 or so other characters I've made, which would probally bring it up to 500+) and I'm loving every second.

But then again, not everyone want's to spend £2 a week on a game thet they've already bought (Considering how long it lasts I think it's a bargain; without WoW I would be incredibly bored, all the time), and so, low and behold, Guild Wars is made. It doesn't grip you for long (people are saying they get bored extremely quickly) and without a bunch of friends I'm sure it would this would become apparant even faster- but it's only £17.99 from Play.com, so who's complaining.

Just to say, I'm going to buy Guild Wars soon to see what it's like, so I'm not some raving WoW fanboy who refuses to acknowledge Guild Wars existance (although I do think it looks kinda sucky :p).

Just remember; you're voting on value for money, what you would rather buy; not which is the better game.

WoW of course, I can't believe this thread was even made, Guild Wars got boring for me in a week

i never played guild wars, but i have WoW, and personally i think that WoW got boring quite fast. Specially cuz everyone on their were jerks and wouldn't help me outfor the life of me. No one would party up with me, no one would help me out w/ my questions. The game got quick fast... i only got to level 7 and i canceled my subscription. Waste of money BIG time imo.
At level 7 you should not even need to speak to another human being...

....maybe it was your grammar that scared them off?

I can get to level 7 in an hour. You sure didn't play for very long...

Like B.Calhoun said, you don't need ANY help at all. You just kill stuff, lol :D

Maybe that's because you were talking to people who had only been playing the game for under an hour, and weren't fully accustomised with the controls? I seem to remember the first time I ever played, I just ran around and didn't really say much, either. And I bet you didn't ask any of your questions in the general chat channel, /1, did you?

We-ell, even when I was new, I got into quite a few groups. And seriously, it takes no time at all to get to Level 7. Now I'm not saying you're shit at the game, and I'm not saying your opinion is wrong. But what I do say to you is that maybe you should have played for just a little longer...if you cancelled your subscription at level 7 you saw absolutely sod-all of what WoW has to offer. It's like playing the train ride section of Half-Life and deciding it sucks because it has no action and taking it back to the shop.

And besides, killing stuff isn't that boring imo ...especially if you're doing all the cool quests.

Still loving WoW here. It's as good as the people you play with. Get the right bunch and it's fantastc, play on your own, or with strangers, and it's not all that.

Great value for money :)

I'd get Guild Wars, but don't know anyone who plays it - so would probably get bored quite quickly.

What's so great about Guild Wars? That's not a criticism...I just don't know what it's like. :D

If we're voting for value for money, then obviously GW wins since there's no subscription fee.

It's world is pretty huge. I'm lvl 15 and i've only covered a small part of the upper-right of the map.

There are PVP arena's that assign you with 3 random players on your team, and you have to fight against other teams, it's pretty fun. My maximum wins in a row is 16.

You didn't even get a talent point and you already quit the game? lol. You should go back to it, you can quite easily do quests upto level 30 at least without teaming with anyone, even once.

WoW is the better choice, it's an MMO for god sake, if you can't afford the small fee's you should'nt even have the internet :/

the point was that killing stuff was boring, specially by myself. And it took me prolly 3 or 4 days to get to lvl 7. And yes i used the general chat.

What class was you? Human Warrior by any chance? To me humans are the most boring race, and warrior is the most boring class...especially the start land for Humans....so...lame. You should make a Hunter, they are the best solo class ingame (also the hardest class to pvp with) but are great fun, and you can't decide whether WoW is good or not, just about every class does'nt get good until level 20.

You should have joined a guild, it's a lot more fun; and if you join a large one it sets you up for a larger chance to get into raid instances when you're level 60. :D It's a lot easier and more fun to group with people in your guild, rather than looking for some strangers (. On, and level 7 really is nothing. You probably didn't even leave the starting area, it's a huge game with thousands of things to do. Just make sure you join a guild, or get your friends to join so you can team up. It's not much fun playing it with strangers or alone. :)

I have both Guild Wars and WOW. I started to play Guild wars a lot more because of the team fighting thing. In WOW, your mostly on your own. In Guild wars, it's very tough to go out on your own. You die quite fast that way. Also the PVP is brillant in Guild Wars. I was playing on my own until they put me into a round with other players and we had to defend ourselves against some tough Opponents. Very fun Stuff. Personally I like Guild Wars for 2 things:

- No Monthy fees (Finally) :)

- Better team play and PVP (actually the whole game is almost a team game.

Everyone has their own thing. WOW is bigger right now but there are updates coming to guild wars that will vastly enhance the game.

i did start as a hunter, then when i hit lvl 7 and got bored i tried a human warrior, got bored their too. I ventured VERY FAR past the starting area, i made it to the big city with portals, then i took a portal and flew the griffins. I just dont like the game, and i can say that b/c it should be fun from lvl 1 till the time u cancel ur subscription. The fun shouldn't just magically "Start" at a random lvl.
I probably would still be palying it if i could even install it... and if i actually knew people who played it, but i dont know a single person.
If you don't like WoW, then I doubt you'll like any MMORPG's.

Well you should have at least played until level 10. That's when hunters get very fun as you get to tame a pet. Everyone I know seems to like WoW, I don't know a single person who doesn't like it.

wrong

Guild Wars.

I've heard lots of people saying WoW simply is not very replayable once they reach their 2nd or 3rd lvl 60 character. Although Battlegrounds does seem like it'll change things

I have 26 days on my character, I that is considered low in my guild, I am still the nub :p

It takes a very long time to get two level 60 characters, you also have to get decent items for them which takes even longer, otherwise they are worthless.

That's the thing. Once you get these uber leet items, you just fall into a slump because starting a new character is so boring, especially because it takes such a long time to get back to lvl 60.

Edit - Unlike Diablo II, where starting a new character is fun and refreshing, and getting to higher levels (70-89) doesn't take that long at all.

Starting a new character in Diablo 2 sucked as much as it does in WoW, same shit all over again. Except in WoW there is another side you can play, with all new content.

There's 0 point to having levels in games anyway. What happens is that everytime you go up a few levels you'll get stronger+better items, but the enemies get harder so it totally cancels everything out and just becomes pointless.

That's the allure. You run into enemies once at a lower level, totally get pwned, and then come back one time with more stuff and higher levels, and totally get revenge and flaunt off the uber items that enemy drops.

Again, battlegrounds looks to be something that could make WoW into something I would enjoy.

There are more complicating factors in the brain that equals fun, but that's the general gist of it.

I am kind of sick of PvP, I was ranked in the top 20 on my server at one point and that just got to be too much for me so I quit PvPing then. I am looking more forward to the new high level instances, they are suppose to be a little more unique and challenging.

The thing that makes Battlegrounds sound so appealing to me is cooperation with a team. Teamwork has always been my primary source of fun. Although things like exploring (with 3-4 other teammates) and just adventuring the landscape is another one of my giddy moments.

Have you done MC yet? It is so much fun and required teamwork from everyone there.
