On September 11, 2007, Aspyr Media and Activision announced that Guitar Hero III will also be developed for both the PC and Macintosh platforms.[22] The game is expected to ship at the same time as the consoles, and will include USB-based Gibson Guitars.

*EDIT*
Both versions will feature multiplayer battle mode, finger numbing boss battles and unlockable content. Packed with over 70 tunes, players will also access an expanded online multiplayer mode across either platform for the ultimate in competition.

:O

BIZ: Are there any options to allow players to record their own tunes or their own custom riffs?

Gordon: We've heard this type of question quite a bit but the truth is that right now our only focus is creating the best Guitar Hero III PC/Mac port possible. PC and Mac gamers are going to expect the same level of quality as the console gamers and we want to deliver in a big way and get the game on shelves before the holidays. As such, we're not putting any tools in the game that will allow for modifications or additions, and we certainly can't support gamers making modifications or additions to the game or songs.

Well, depressing they won't let people do it right off the bad, but if they can do it for GH2 on the PS2, they can do it for the PC probably easier...

I'm torn between the PC and the 360 version. With the 360 version, I get a guitar I can use with Rock Band once that comes out (and undoubtedly a much larger multiplayer population). But with the PC version, there's a good chance that custom songs will be easy to put into the game.

I'm thinking I might get the 360 version with a wireless guitar, then get the PC version with an MS wireless receiver (assuming it works :x ) at a later date.

Are they finally getting a wireless guitar controller for the 360?

I played GH2 on both the PS2 and the 360...the 360 version's controller seemed so sloppy compared to the PS2...then again, it was at a game shop, so it coulda been pretty worn...but I prefer the PS2 version...

I'm going for replayability, and will probably be going with the PC version. Plus my monitor is bigger than the Tv... :(

Officially they won't support modified songs, but considering people already modded the PS2 versions to do it, it's going to be so easy to modify it on the PC.

I wouldn't doubt it. The same people will probably be the ones to make the PC songs *which sucks, because in my opinion, the songs were poorly put together, but I forgive them due to no official tools* But hey, hopefully it will get big enough, they just include the tools.

Where can I warez a guitar?

You could map your keys like a keyboard. Make f1-f5 the buttons, and then something like Enter or Shift or something strum. Then you could just hold the keyboard like a guitar!

I'm skipping right over GH3 and getting Rock Band, so I couldn't care less if this is on PC

Rock band won't be out for another while! I need to stave my GH hunger ;(

Ah just play some Frets on Fire all the custom song support you need. As long as the damn thing doesn't memory leak on you.

For some reason, I have that problem alot. Plus I enjoy GH's caliber of gameplay...I don't have as much fun, and the game seems too easy for some reason. Maybe they have harder songs out, but if I want to play a game with the keyboard, I'll just play Stempmania...

LOL those are the commands for Frets on Fire!!

why cant they create some kind of IDE cable to go from the computer to the hard drive on a 360...that would work

Are you sure the PC guitar won't work with the 360 seeing as how it is going to be USB as well?!
Hm.. Maybe I be WRONGGGGGG D:

I would think so. My 360 guitar controller works just fine when plugged into my computer. It even shows up as "Guitar Hero X-plorer Controller".

I'd assume they are just going to use the 360 controllers.
