Gamespot interviewing Activision Publishing president and CEO Mike Griffith said:
For the company's 2008 fiscal year, which begins on April 1, Griffith said Activision will have 60 individual products, or SKUs, which would "aggressively target the Nintendo platforms." He said the company "will be focusing on our most successful franchises--Call of Duty, Tony Hawk, and Guitar Hero," though he stopped short of announcing specific new titles.

That's kinda confirmation, right? I mean... they're not stupid, they must see the potential. And if it's anything like the 360 version with downloadable tracks, it'll be a must have.

Oh my word that is enough for me to buy a Wii.
As long as they let you import tracks onto/off of your SD card to create your own.

I still think they should come out with Rock Star Hero - patent pending, it's my idea >:O

In case nobody remembered: Basically it's Guitar Hero on the Wii, except it's more of a co-op game and everyone takes a different role. One guitar controls the lead guitar role, another guitar takes the bassline, a third player uses a pair of drumstick wands/remotes that controls the drums, and a fourth player uses a wireless mic and does the vocals.

It's awesome. Pipedream or not.

Stiggy I think the wiimote could definately do all that, and more! Sounds awesome.
I think that the wiimote would control the fretting (not proper GH like, perhaps the Dpad/AB buttons control the chords), while the nunchuck is the strmumer that you strum up and down. Obviously then both could be the sticks yeah, with perhaps the AB/Dpad controlling kick drum, or holding A/B for hi-hats/cymbals.

Very good idea tbh.

I'm pretty sure everybody thought of that idea the moment they played Guitar Hero :P

I'd love to see that game though.

Good news if the Wii is seeing further GH titles

The only problem is that using two wiimotes for the drums means one of the other instruments is unusable, since only four devices can connect to the Wii at a time. The solution is to make each instrument its own third-party iteration, where you have the guitar controller, the microphone controller, and a pair of drumsticks where both track their 3D position like the Wiimote, but they act as one device.

Glad you like the idea though :D

A nunchuck could be used for the other drum stick. Apparently companies have got a further upgrade of the nunchuck software that means it's even more responsive. It's basically as good as the accelerometer in the Wiimote now.

I just don't care what GH3 comes out on *HOpefully PS2 again..* but as long as we can get different songs..that would help the replayability of the game infanite fold.

Well the nunchuck attachment has an accelerometer doesn't it? That could be used as a drum instead of two wiimotes.

The problem is figuring out the Nunchuck's position in 3D space, which is pretty important when determining which drum piece you just hit :P

if we're taking the viewpoint as that of Guitar Hero (as in like chords, not actual 3D models with eye-toy like hitboxes representing the instruments) then really you'd only have to hold down a button on the nunchuck and drum it.

But yes, if you had a view of the 3D drum kit, then you would need 2 wiimotes. Oh actually, unless you used the nunchuck as just a hi-hat/kick drum. The accelerometer determins how hard the top cymbal hits the bottom, or how hard the foot kick hits the bass drum. Up down movement for the hi-hat, front/back accel for the drum.

Um ... what's the point of releasing this on Wii? If they used the guitar controller it would just be regular GH with shittier graphics. If they used the Wiimote instead of the guitar it would be GH with shittier graphics and a shittier control scheme.

I don't get it ... the Wii has to be the worst possible console for a GH game.

Yeah, I can't see using the wiimote for a guitar, that would be awkward. Drums and such, yes, I see that a possibility

So basically, you propose that RedOctane ignores the Wii because... it's less powerful than other consoles. Which is funny, because I don't quite remember the graphics on Guitar Hero being such a big selling point.

Also, the point about the controller is pretty... well, stupid. Replace "Wii" with "PS2" and you sound like an idiot.

[edit] I'm not trying to go out of my way to insult you, but come on.

Amazingly enough, GH is ugly in the graphix department, if you look at the models, Axel looks like a down syndrome patient. No offense intended there, it's just that he is horrible. But shit, do you care? HELL NO! You're too busy rocking out with your cock out, and ladies, Jam out with your clam out!

It wouldn't take much to release a guitar controller attatchment for Wii. I mean... isn't that all the PS2 version did? And with the added motion sensing, you could have points during the song where you have to do guitar tricks like go down on your knees or jump in the air for bonus points.

Oooh. I'm a genius.

So then why the hell are people getting excited about it? How do I sound like an idiot? I didn't say it would be worse than the PS2 version, but it will easily be worse than the next gen versions if nothing else than on graphics alone. If it uses only the Wiimote and no guitar controller, then it will be the worst version of GH released thus far. If it does use the guitar controller, it will be on par with the PS2 version.

How exactly am I the one who's being stupid? A Wii version of GH is nothing to get excited about - out of all consoles it's least suited to to the Wii. Granted, it will still be a fine buy (as long as it uses the guitar), but it will be the worst of the next-gen versions - and that is why I don't see the point of people getting excited.

Because the people that maybe like Guitar Hero but don't have a Ps2 or Xbox and have a Wii will get to play it.

Maybe those people have a reason to get excited about it.

How don't you have a PS2? You can buy used ones for dirt cheap

No PS2 because I've been undergoing a Sony boycott for the past few years. Not that I don't end up playing the AAA titles, but... I just don't want a PS2.

Drum Hero on Wii goddamnit! I'd buy a console just for that.
