Gun Coding Query

I was just wondering if when coding the efects of being shot by a gun, it's possible to have the creature ragdoll (they will be thrown back 10 feet or so) but not die? In half life 2 I can't remember any instances of ragdolls when the thing wasnt dead so I guess its probably not possible,

anyway, please either confirm my suspicions or tell me some good news

Maybe check the zombie code. You can kill a zombie with a gun, but the headcrab on top can become alive .
