This happened to me, and I felt I should post it.

Me and my girlfriend went to a house party in Marble Arch in London (a rather nice area for those who don't know the LDN) and had a lovely time, and rather inebriated, were making our way to the bus stop to go home...

.. when three guys pull up in a white van and start mouthing off, claiming that I swore at them and should apologise.

Being powered by Vladivar at this point I start giving it the big 'I am' and generally being a cocky shit, contrary to my girlfriends advice.

After a few minutes of debate, words to the effect of 'you better apologise or else' are uttered, and one of the lads slowly pulls a handgun from his coat, letting me see the handle. If I hadn't been so clockfaced, I probably would have been terrified, but it just didn't really register.

Understandably my girlfriend was rather upset by proceedings, thinking that they were going to shoot me - I ended by saying that I was sorry that someone swore at them, but it wasn't me. They drove off...


... only to pull up again a few moments later, to apologise to my girlfriend for upsetting her, who promptly told them to **** off, understandably.

I can only assume that they realised that as they drove away after threatening me, I had a perfect view of their numberplate, and the Met tend to take these things quite seriously.

Anyway, fun times!

Funny thing about that is, I listened to the Chicago police scanner last night for about an hour. Atleast one person got shot every 15-20 minutes.

i saw a gun pulled on a dealer once when i was a teenager hanging about in town waiting for gigs or the local rock club night. bunch of suspicious lads were walking about asking us all if we had seen the guy, then when he turned up in a car they pulled a gun and started hitting him with the butt of the handle through the window until he drove off, which they then chased.

was pretty shocked, i've seen plenty of knives and had more than a few shown and pulled out to me, but never a gun. scary shit.

So...you nearly got shot in the face, but the guy let you off the hook. Then soon after he comes back to apologize to your gf for scaring the crap outta her?

Man, you European types are weird sometimes.

That's almost as bad as the Irish stereotype where punching people in the face before buying them a pint is an acceptable method to greet someone.
 
if this were America, you would have been shot then robbed and your girlfriend would have been kidnapped and raped, then sold on the black market into the sex slave business.....or at least thats what Hollywood would led me to believe

I was surprised people were acting normal, and I assumed because of this that comradebadger had returned some time ago.

Eh, I assumed that CB would be one of those people, never to return, but never forgotten. Simply in the minds of the veterans of ages old who would recall him, but whose memory would be constantly buried deeper as the years went by and new members started coming in.

Um, so uh did you call the police? Because the police probably would want to know about that.

Hey! Well, I'm planning to visit a lot more fequently, I've posted in the music forum as well-so I will stick around methinks.

Or stabbed the guy in the eye, depending on the distance.
