Okay the thread in the HL2 forum tried to wonder about girls in the community...but ended up being guys talking about gaming chicks...so I decided to post a POLL!

So errrr.... the choices are pretty simple....Guys Vs. Girls
So lets see what this community is made up of!

Nope...I mean like uh lets party at my house..that kinda thing...
I don't have parties alot, cause I been to many parties where it turns into a sausage fest...I've only had two parties myself...both with a higher girl/guy ratio....kinda proud actually...

Anyhoo...girls that I date that I meet in clubs are great but two things that are so F**king cool to me are:

Gamer girls......I don't know why, but yea
Girls that can kick my ass... Hey it's odd to find one, I'm 6'4", and I mean girls...like normal ones...not f**king HELERIGO SHEWOMAN that is bigger than me...Like this chick I met in this club in Vegas...was a kickboxer...and I'm a football player and she could've tore me APART!
 
I choose guys! Not like that though...ugh...yeah.

I take it you're a pretty smart guy or something? you find that some people who are so used to being everyones superior (i.e. mentally/physically etc) often favor some kind of role-reversal ;) thats why girls who kick ass are so popular today (lara croft...?)

Umm not sure? Are you saying that my smart side likes girls that can kick my ass and my, Football-Player/Benchpress-Your-Car side, likes gamer girls?
 
sortof.. i pm'ed you with a more detailed explanation, but for everyone else.. its your brain countering the shortcomings/superiorities in yourself by selecting a mate that fills/exploits places you are lacking or who sinks into places where you excel

Being good at a combat sport doesn't mean that you can automatically handle yourself in a fight.

....why the hell not? Isn't that the point of self defence? Your statement could be rephrased to simply say...

being well trained in the art of fighting doesn't mean you can be effective in a fight

Martial arts aren't necessarily the same thing as self-defence (in the real world)... study the subject.

I must admit, you do seem to be trying to start up arguments about trivial things such as this. What does it matter?

martial, is a word which can be used in several different senses but all relate to combat, war or a physical presence.

arts, can be understood in several ways but in this case means the styles or forms of its subject.

So martial arts is understood as the forms of combat. So it isn't necessarily the same as self defence, it could be self-attack but i don't think that's what you meant.

Study the subject... i did kung fu and judo for a while, gave them up due to being pathetic and wanting to have time to go out but i never had a lesson where i did something that wasn't going to be useful in a fight.
 
Argh. I meant that knowing how to perform a flying spinkick doesn't mean that you actually know how to fight. It's very obvious if you study the matter. There's more to it than techniques.
 
In fact, tbh, it's more who can kick the other person in the bollocks first and then stamp on their face :)

But knowing karate and stuff helps :)

Heheh, I have done many... many martial arts and fighting stuff in my time and I think badge has it right there!

And yeah, I have to agree i'm afraid. Alot of martial arts (or most often the specific clubs where they are tought) are absolutely frickin CRAP for self defence in a real fight.


If you wana learn to fight do a muay thai boxing class. :p

We have 5 girls. Not bad, not bad at all! Would allways be nice to see more tho! :p
