GW Films seeking new HL2 team

GW Films (www.gwfilms.com), a leading machinima film group, is looking for some new talent to help us with upcoming Half-Life 2 projects.

For now this mostly involves research and development, and will eventually lead to another film project such as the works found on www.gwfilms.com/films

HL2 obviously offers much more sophisticated content options than HL1, so you can expect these new films to surpass anything previously done.

Making a machinima film (film inside the HL2 engine) is somewhat like developing a HL2 mod, minus the long term commitment and ample programming code.
So, if you're a programmer, mod developer, or 3D guru please drop an email to [email protected] - it would be great to hear from you!

Best of luck from the "competition" :D

The Help Wanted section down in the editing section would probably be a better place to look for help.

i suck at life, i wish i had some talent.

just kidding. if i actually sat down and tried to make something it would come out real nice. but noone wants anything i make so why bother?

Yeah it's hard getting a competent set of movie helpers out there, due to the specialized nature of machinima. I've been in contact with valve mostly ranting about certain changes that need to be made so that ordinary animators/modelers with traditional CGI film experience can jump into machinima with relative ease.

Any good responses?

Coming from a non-traditional background, I can't imagine a better set of tools from a director's standpoint. But then again, I'm not mapping or modelling or texturing.

It has been difficult to find talent to take on projects like that. Everyone seems to want to work on the latest and greatest DM mods.

I can count the responses off my hand. I think the best strategy for a film project is to join forces with a big MOD team. That way you have access to their art and tech resources. Basically we joined with a big mod team and offered to create our movie within their mod in return for using their art and coding. It might be the only way of doing things for now.
