Hello, i'm quickly informing you of this.... A few days ago our site, www.cw-meltingpoint.com was hacked, and at the moment, i'm trying to repair the damage. Here is a screenshot with all of the the information given on the hacked page itself.

Info

Also, here is an e-mail that was sent to me
This FREE alert has been sent to you by Remote Assessment
The Remote Assessment Defacement Alert Project monitors hacker and hacking related websites and notifies individuals and organizations when references to their domains/websites appear.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
www.remoteassessment.com

Why did I receive this alert?
It appears the website www.cw-meltingpoint.com (cw-meltingpoint.com) has been posted on a hacker defacement archive. This usually indicates an attack has already occured or is in progress by malicious computer hackers.

Hackers are well know for 'bragging' and displaying the websites they hack on public web-sites for all to see. The Defacement Alert Project monitors these websites and alerts appropriate administrative individuals as soon as possible to ensure damage is contained and remedied quickly and efficiently.

** Note: On occasion domain names are listed to these hacker sites although they have not been defaced. It is possible the attacker was unsuccessful or the posting was made in an attempt to receive credit for an attack that did not actually take place.

Remote Assessment is watching:
This information is gathered from publicly available archives which list the systems which are hacked for statistical purposes. Remote Assessment monitors these hacking lists and alerts administrative personel as soon as possible to limit damage and exposure. Website defacement hackers often post the systems which they have attacked on public archive websites to 'brag' and gain _respect_ in the hacking/hacker community. These websites often record the activity as 'snapshots' of history and rank individual hackers by collected averages and statistics.

Additional information, whitepapers, support and assistance are available 24/7: www.remoteassessment.com

IMPORTANT:
Remote Assessment is not affiliated in any way with the listers of hacking activities, electronic criminals or illegal hacking organizations of any kind. The information detailed in this email is an alert to notify administrative personel of a security incident involving a system / server / website under their control. *Note: The possibility exists that an attacker has added your system / site to a defacement list without an actual attack taking place. If this is the case, we apologize for any inconvenience and assure you that this is the case.

We offer a DO NOT ALERT list; should you wish to be added to this list, please reply to this message with 'REMOVE' in the subject line. Your email address will no longer be notified in the event it is publicly listed.

*OUCH*

Definitely the type of hacker I'd like to stuff a keyboard up his rear parts...

If I'd be equally lame, I'd suggest to spam the shown E-Mail address into oblivion, which would neither solve any data loss problems nor teach that My-English-is-even-worse-than-Konfuzzyus' smallbrain some decent english grammar.

I'd just like to know on what type of server you were hosted... Apache? Some MS ****?

So everything on the sever is gone?

wow man, that sucks. I really want to help but i cant think of something, sorry :/

no actually, they jsut repelaced every index.htm and uindex.php file on the sitre with theirs, and i'm currently removing them. The site itself is intact, i jsut need to fix up all the shit they left behind.

We now the e-mail is a dummy, but i owuld really like to kill them.

It's an apache server.

Just a tip:

Dont make a big deal of it, thats is just what the cracker wants (and he's got enough already :))

(Yes, i used the word cracker, not the word hacker.)

All HL2Files.com Hosted websites were hit (including mine) and only the index.* files were changed to what was seen in the above screenshot.

yeah, it'll be fixed soon, however my studies (damn you kant) are slowing me down...

Andyway, it'd be nice if we can track them down...

Yeah, as someone said, all the .hl2files sites where down, including mine ;(, damn techteam

Oh...and how come I didnt get an e-mail ?, or was it because of your domain ?

You might notr have gotten an e-mail because they weren't bragging about hacking your site or soemthiong.... that's how they said they got it the notification.... or maybe you don't hav an e-mail addy tied into the the site.

That just sucks mon :(
I feel sorry for you, and hope that you will have your site fixed soon.

Damn haXors...*grumbles*

Hey, i just notice that the Swedish compy store http://www.overclockers.se/ just got hacked... and guess what? It was Techteam :)

*fumbles with map*
Let's see...I'm supposed to turn left at the Mod Announcements forum, and then go up the stairs and take the second door to the right...*get's lost*

Yeah, you shouldn't do that..
Since he did not, to our knowledge, remove/steal/modify any important or classified files he has not met up to the classifications of a cracker.

This appears to be a good guy, or at least somebody who thinks he is.
You should not be angry that he messed up your index-files, but be grateful for that he warned you, since it seems as that it was his mission.

Recently our whole server-network for the Cause And Effect-team was breached.
That time it was not about "warning" anybody about their security-alerts.
It was a worm sent by a non-hackerteam without a reason.
These people did not deserve being called crackers either, since hackers/crackers posess large knowledgements about system-security etc. though to call the Script-kiddies would to them more justice.

Of course it's never nice to have your project/belongings/work modified so I wish you allt he luck and hope you had your more important files off the web-root or possibly of that server!
