and it's starting to piss me off. It just won't go away. I've been coughing up blood and mucus for days now and my mother was telling me to take some of her amoxilcillin, as I may have a bacterial infection, but I heard that this may actually do more harm than good if it's just a virus. Is it worth the risk?

I won't get the chance to go to a doctor until my health insurance kicks in with my new job, but I really don't want to wait this long.

It's worth the risk if you want to stop coughing up blood.

Side effects may include - Nausea, drowsiness, join pain, testicle pain and a rare but serious case of your dick falling off

Take the amoxilcillin you stupid shit, it won't do anything bad to you. wtf are you talking about. Coughing up blood. ffs. If it doesn't work it won't work, if it works it works. It won't do anything bad to you unless you take a whole bottle. Even then, probably nothing that bad.

I might start taking it. Hopefully the stuff won't attack my genitals and give my balls gangrene.

Is it really normal for a viral cold to last this long? Or bacterial even?

It was so bad at one point that I couldn't even sleep without choking on blood and mucus. The stuff was literally coming up by the handfuls. Worst cold I ever had in my life.

holy **** man, blood is serious. get over there now, screw your insurance.

Are you going to take the medicine dragonshirtman? You need to, and if you think about it any longer, I hope this infection spreads just because you wanted to wait for your insurance to kick in.

Do not take the amoxicillin.

See a doctor immediately. Coughing up blood is not a good sign at all, and you may have something very serious.

If you have a bacterial infection, your doctor will prescribe you with the proper antibiotics, but it could be viral or even fungal. If its either of these, the antibiotics will do nothing for you.

Furthermore, if it IS a bacterial infection, and you're taking someone else's medication, chances are there might not be enough to clear the infection, and you'll end up with antibiotic resistant bacteria, which could kill you.

I changed my mind, you should just wait it out.

Save the blood, use it later when you need more.

Go to the emergency room, do not give your name. I hear that works over there?

Side effects are as those for other beta-lactam antibiotics. Side effects include nausea, vomiting, and easy fatigue. Loose bowel movements (diarrhea) also may occur.

The onset of an allergic reaction to amoxicillin can be very sudden and intense - emergency medical attention must be sought as quickly as possible. The initial onset of such a reaction often starts with a change in mental state; skin rash with intense itching (often beginning in fingertips and around groin area and rapidly spreading) and sensations of fever, nausea and vomiting. Any other symptoms that seem even remotely suspicious must be taken very seriously.

Uhg, I'll skip the antibiotics. Hopefully this'll either pass before I go to a doctor or I'll get to go sometimes this coming week.

Blood always means go to the doctor. :|

In the UK I could go see a doctor right now just because "something's not right" and not worry about bills and having to be an invulnerable 20 something.

But apparently that's one dirty step too close to dirty communism, so whatever.

My advice: suck it up and go see a doctor, better to have to pay off a bill then die of a horrible lung infection or something.

Edit: Also all this talk of coughs and colds is making my throat a tad itchy, best go down and see my doc.

Apparently this cold everyone is getting for like 5 weeks is like the worst strain of man-flu ever recorded.

I had it and it sucked!

So you're waiting for your health insurance to kick in? At least for you it actually works the way it should. Over here health insurance is just another excuse to "cough" up the dough. Even if you do have health insurance... if you go to the dentist, you have to pay the doctor. Routine checkup, you have to pay the doctor. So on and so forth. One of the "advantages" of living in a corrupt country :/

Just pay the ****ing Doctor you numbnut. Coughing blood is a very serious thing, it could be something very bad and if you wait for a dumb**** reason like insurance then you could very well be securing your own death. GG Saturos!

Sounds trivial. Man up and ignore it.

No, blood packs only give you 1 health point. :dork:

But seriously, coughing up blood is NOT one of the symptoms of a cold. Coughing up blood is more like a symptom of ebola (prevailent only in Africa, don't worry about that). Point being, it's serious.

Dude, GTFO of the forums, get to a doctor.

Dude, go to the ****ing doctor. I feel for you, not having insurance sucks but put it on a credit card if you have to but 3 weeks of a cold and caughing up blood would be something to be worried about.

What the hell man. I couldnt help but also add, go to the doctor!

I just had another idea. What if you go out an commit a minor crime such as shoplifting? When they arrest you and see you caughing up blood they will have no choice but to take you to the hospital and at that point your medical bills will be the responsibility of the city. Brilliant, huh?

Seriously, he posted this last night and hasn't been back since. I'm starting to get worried.

You know what you're doing when you take antibiotics when it's not necessary? You send bacteria to resistance school. Hell, you send them to the Harvard University of Resistance! Do you really want bacteria with a PhD in resistance? DO YOU?!

STOP HAULING WITH THE ENEMY!

Coughing up blood isn't something you should ignore. It's very serious. I'd go to any Doctor immediately.
