Hi,

I don't know if this is where to talk about forum problems, but I've had to change my password 4 or 5 times in 2 days because I wasn't able to log on with my password. It was correct everytime I entered it, but it did not want to accept the password. Is there maybe some upgrades going on that would cause this to happen?

I have no idea why people are having this problem, a few people have complained of this. I've touched no files or database tables concerning users or login information :|

Do you use both Firefox and IE?

If you don't use IE anymore, if you visit http://www.halflife2.net/forums are you automatically logged in?

What happens if you log out of that and retry it?

I log on from different compuers. I'm not always on one. Right now, I'm on a different computer than I was when I posted that first message. When I logged in on this computer that I am now using, it didn't want to recognized my password, then I tried again, and it logged me in.

I do use both IE and FireFox. I am on FireFox right now. When I went to the link, it did not show me as automatically logged in, an I always check the "Remember Password" box.

This is strange. Thanks for helping me out with this problem.

I also had the same issue. Normally I'm logged in 24/7 but I decided to clear my passwords and what not before I went to a lan party for safety.

When I got back I tried logging in and I kept getting incorrect password(Main reason I haven't been here in a few days-too lazy to reset pw). After about 3 times of my account getting locked I decided to reset the PW, when I used the new PW it still would not work. Once I reset the PW a second time is when it worked.

When i started using FF the other day, my password would only work on the second attempt... It was really strange.
I'm back to using IE now though, and its working fine

I have a pretty good feeling it's to do with being logged in at two locations. Which is the first time I've ever heard of vBulletin software of doing that.

For example, I started getting the problem for the first time yesterday. I wanted to test something with the new warning system so I opened IE and logged out. Logged out fine and I did what I needed to do. Then I tried to log back in. Giving me the same error. So I tried to log out of Firefox but that didn't actually log me out, it said it cleared all my cookies then it relogged me in straight away. Then I retried IE and it worked... Strange.

I never looked at hL2.net on IE on my computer. I did once during my schooling sessions but that dosen't count...

I am litteraly always logged in

Hmm, maybe it's just random then. Dunno what would be causing it though.

All I know is that when it happens to me I just login on another browser, logout and retry on my normal browser and it works.

Bare in mind also that your computer will store a cookie for halflife2.net and www.halflife2.net. If you visit both of those and you get automatically logged in, log one out in case its interfering. In theory you won't be able to post by visiting the forums at halflife2.net anyway. Always go to www.halflife2.net.

Well I use halflife2.net/forums and www.halflife2.net/forums and i get no problems.

A new version of vBulletin is out now anyway so we'll see if that fixes the problem.

That's good to know. I haven't been having anymore problems with it today. I've managed to stay logged on, on the computer at home and the one at my other place.
