Hal-Life 2 makes BBC news front page

No new info, but nice find and good read.

No news, but thx for the link. However, the BBC News Online technology editor knows shit about hl, hl community and hl2. he can only tell some basic stuff about hl2, but he definitly didn't do enough research on the topic before writting the article. at least, he should go through the hl2.net forum. If i were a teacher i give him a "C".

Valve says Half-Life 2 is due to be shipped by the end of September, despite rumours of a delay.

i hope game stores follow

Nice to find, not so much for the article but its nice to know the main streem media is takeing note.

I seriously think that when they mean "ready to ship by September 30th" they are actually saying "well be done on our side by then, at which point it will be on Steam. Sure it will take longer to get it in stores but it will have been ready to ship. and hey it was on steam!"

Im praying for a world wide realese, because HL2 gets released 6 days before i have to go back to school, so im hoping to get it 3 - 4 days after so i get a little time with it, hehe :)

yep i think you are right....

At the recent computer games show in London, Mr Lombardi insisted the game would be ready to ship on 30 September.

this would possibly mean that november 20th is not that far fetched. although i'm not sure, but does it really take 20 days for the world to get stocked in half-life? and why can't i work for fedex or something and steal a copy that i'm delivering :)

well broadband gets installed in my area 2 days before its 'ready to ship' so if BT get there asses in gear i should only be waiting a day or two.

Well, unfortunately, you are forgetting one important thing. October.

Also, Lombardi said that the game will be released on the 30th of September, not just shiped. He said "shipped" to one magazine, and that was it. See the quotes before:

Vossey: Can you assure us of a September 30th release of Half-Life 2?

Lombardi: Yes. No change in the release date is planned. The September 30th date is worldwide. In France as well as England.

The first question was on Half Life 2's release date, and they are 100% committed to a 30th September release

Finally, obviously there's been a lot of talk about, and confusion surrounding, Half-Life 2's release date following statements from Vivendi. Can you confirm now whether you're still on track to hit the September 30 date?

Lombardi: The release date's unchanged.

I got BT BB and its great,
Except for the customer services;(

More like 50 days. you missed out October!

"Up to 32 people will be able to battle each other in a variety of games, though few Valve is not giving any more details at this stage."

Sounds like there will be other gamemodes. Not just normal deathmatch

my bad on the october thing..... but in all those other quotes you listed... he jsut says the RELEASE DATE, which COULD mean released on STEAM shipped same day.

i´m off to by buy Valve stocks and become a richman.
Maybe if i become the senior ownor i might get to see HL3 before everyone else

not only did you post 3 times, but valve is not a public company, so you can't buy their stock. And Vivendi is in the middle of being bought, so I wouldn't advise buying their stock either.
