We are looking for talented Modelers from the community to join our custom mod team for Half-Life 2.

Once a member of our team, you will be working closely with other members from around the world on helping shape our mod from beginning to end.

As a modeler on our team, you will be largely creating fantasy flora, fauna, and machines. Many of the models will be created from scratch from the imagination of our artists. Other models will be created from scratch or derived from existing models already in the core game.

The job requirements are:
  • Ability to resolve problems quickly and efficiently. Utilize the collection of resources available to you.
  • Attention to detail. We want our models to be appear professional.
  • Willingness to learn. We don't expect to attract experienced modelers, they're already working on other projects, so you must be willing to learn.
  • Must be open to criticism. All ideas are open to peer review. Work may be discarded if they fail to meet play expectations.
  • Ability to work independently and to meet established deadlines.
  • Basic computing knowledge is required. We are here to create a game, not teach you how to navigate through Windows XP.
  • Easy access to communication mediums. We use a forum, IM and IRC to coordinate our efforts. IM largely consists of ICQ and MSN. Use of multi-chat program such as Trillian or GAIM is strongly encouraged.
  • Installed and correctly configured copies of all the necessary software to accomplish your assigned duties is required. Such examples include, but are not limited to, Steam, Half-Life 2, XSI Mod Tool, image manipulation (such as Photoshop) and Subversion (for versioning). We are an independent group of gamers and can not and will not pay for individual licenses. Half-Life 2 and some image programs require a purcahsed license. Most programs we use are free or are included with other purchased licenses. We will help you install and configure some of the more esoteric software (Subversion for instance).
  • Knowledge of other fields such as animation, mapping, artwork or code is a plus.
  • Previous project experience a plus.
  • Time. If you are expecting to graduate to college or some other major event that will take you away in the next six months, please apply only if you expect to stay with the mod beyond that time.

For more information about our mod or further questions, please visit the Half-Life 0.5 project at Vortigaunt.com hosted by Planet Half-Life.

Please email your resume to [email protected]

seems like a nice mod. I was in the JOTV team (Journey of the vortigaunt) a mod where you play as a vortigaunt. We did pretty well and had exeptional ideas for the gameplay and the story. We had a great concept artist who drew perfect images of levels, models, vortigaunts, weapons, everything. All was going well until we discovered we couldnt continue because we had no programer. This became our death, we had the materials ready but no coder to put it together.

I wish you luck and hope that you can pull it together, as for me im not open for mod projects right now because im to bussy studying. However if i change my mind i will definitive check back to this because i have worked in this area, preticulary about Vortigaunts understanding their nature and purpose and qualities.

:)
