sorry i know this is a hl2 board, but i'm getting extreme frame tearing during hl1, and since there is no vertical sync option, i have no idea how to fix it

Could you post your specs and what settings you have on the game?

windows xp pro, gig of ram, amd athlon 3000+, ati radeon 9600

i've tried all resolutions and it still tears. i have the highest color quality on.

the frame tearing is caused because ther vertical and horizantal frame rates aren't in sync, thus the v-sync that helps most games, but hl1 doesn't have that

Control Panel -> Display -> Settings -> Advanced.

Or if you have the Catalyst Control Center, use that instead.

It should be in the D3D/OpenGL part of the drivers.

It's 'Wait for Vertical Sync' or something close to it...

thanks got it. now i don't suppose you know how to get rid of vpu recover errors completely do you? (i don't mean just turning it off)
