I don't think you can use Havok unless you pay. I haven't seen any downloads for it, anyway - they make their money from selling it to people.Originally posted by MrMan16
Yeah, and Im sure most would, Fenric...and I thought you could use the Havok engine for free, but if you wanted to make any profit, you had to buyt it....but Im prolly wrong....

Thanks for doing the work, MrMan - shame it's no good for mod teams:Originally posted by MrMan16

the old Quake2 engine can still be updated in a big way
It runs like a piiiiig on my 4200 (with all the effects on), even at low-res. Admittedly a shiny, sexy pig. A 9600/etc. will just about run it sensibly, even more so if you compromise. Anything less than a 4200 forget it.Originally posted by MrMan16
Im actually getting ready to DL the Tenebrae for Quake...so it didnt run good? I thought so too...but, I might as well try it myself.

I got that, zdoom I think they call it. Like you said, you can look up and down, and it has higher resolutions. Im actually getting ready to DL the Tenebrae for Quake...so it didnt run good? I thought so too...but, I might as well try it myself.
And lets just hope thats a good thing Fenric....

It was realy well done. And if you have everything maxed, and the res on 1024 x 768 x 32 it laggs a bit...or it does on my machine. But this isnt H-L 2 related, so I better stop

... and it all loops back around to your original question about using Havok (or something similar) in HL1, my answer now would be, probably, something similar... if/when HL1's engine becomes open source
How's that for turning things back around to on-topic eh hehehe

hl2 is backwards compatible, in other words HL1 content is easily ported into HL2 (adapting its physics system, ragdolls, lighting etc)
in fact it is already done apparently.
however I want to see a REDONE hl1, with high quality models/textures/maps etc, rather than HL1 with Havok.
