The magnum/etc don't have zooms.. it's a built in zoom feature that the HEV has in HL2.
As told by VALVe way back when people asked about zooming in on Alyx in the E32K3 labs scene

No, they're different.
Manipulator picks objects up and has the ability to hurl them.
The gravity gun/physgun, which won't be included in the game (according to VALVe), used a blue beam of energy to pick objects up and move them around (seen in the E32K3 HL2 presentation)

actually, its wonderful if u ask me.. because i enjoyed the alien weapons in HL1 and OP4.. (especially the spore launcher :cheese: ) although IIRC, a few months ago.. when a thread on HL1 weapons was started.. most pple said they didn't like the alien weapons much.. :|

well the hornet gun was.. perhaps the shock roach from OP4.. but the spore launcher was actually a very useful weapon.. and i don't think it particularly was under-powered.

theres a trick to using the spore launcher ya know

The blue beam gun is/was the physcannon, and was the origin of the nickname manipulator.
