Half-life 2 and an Aspire notebook

Hi folks. I'm new to the forum, but within 1 minute of my arrival i'm already needing some help.

Half-life 2 runs fine on my desktop, but I've ordered an Aspire notebook from.. http://www.acernotebooks.co.uk/asp/...rShowBackLink=n

The notebook i've ordered is the second one down (in the list), for £755, its specs (down to basics) are as follows..

Pentium 4 3.0Ghz CPU (1024mb L2 Cache)
512mb DDR 2700
Ati Mobility 9700 64mb.
60gig HD (4200 rpm)

I realise the the low rpm on the HD will probably cause some loading issues, but what really worries me is the 9700, with it only having 64mb memory. Will i be able to run half-life 2 on this notebook, with a decent frame rate at 1024-768 resolution, preferbly on medium settings with no AF and AA?

I have my doubts, but i'de rather check and make sure.

Anyhow, thanks in advance for any help.

Garanga!

(I posted this in another folder as well, as i'm not sure which one this should come under)

Aha, thanks.

I've never actualy bought a laptop before, would it make a big difference if I updated from 512 to 1gig? Ah, and would i need to set the textures to low with only 64mb graphics memory?

Thanks again folks.

Best to go for as much ram as you can fit in/afford, the 64mb on your graphics I think you know may cause you some problems. Having stated that looking through the threads some people have had HL2 running with that amount of memory.

You could start with the options set to low and increase them a little at a time, you will soon know when the card can not handle anymore.

Anyway enjoy your laptop they are very handy things to have

what about my laptop
its an hp pavilion

2.6 ghz p4
512 mb ram
ati 345m i belive 64mb but not sure
60 gigs

Shouldn't have a problem with the graphics card, 9700 mobility is fine for HL2. Ideally you should have more RAM, or at least higher DDR, but 512 should do. P4 should be fine also
